Chapter 61 - Chapter 60 - The Clash Below Manhattan Pt 2

The underground chamber erupted in chaos as Xu Mo unleashed a roar that seemed to shake the very foundation of the building. Smoke and dust billowed, sending everyone into a state of panic. The atmosphere was thick with confusion and fear as an unseen force made its presence known.

"Stop! We are not the enemy!" Natasha Romanoff shouted urgently. She had not anticipated the situation escalating to this level. Her orders had been clear, but the situation had rapidly devolved, catching her off guard.

Xu Mo, adjusting his black-framed glasses with an indifferent expression, responded coolly, "When your guns are pointed at me, you are already the enemy. Maybe it was a mistake before, but not now."

He gestured dismissively. "Come on, my pet."

A beastly roar reverberated through the chamber. To Xu Mo's side stood a massive, imposing creature—a light gray figure with a white, hard shell mask. Its presence was palpable, though it remained invisible to most.

The roar and the creature's presence left everyone in disarray. Daredevil, with his heightened senses, could feel the monster's presence through subtle changes in wind pressure and vibrations in the ground. However, for everyone else, the creature was unseen.

Daredevil was baffled by the lack of a heartbeat from the creature, an anomaly that added to the mystery. He kept his observations to himself, realizing that the appearance of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had shifted the balance, leaving him wary of their potential interference.

Hawkeye, scanning the area with his advanced equipment, found no results. "Not invisible," he mused. "It must be something else."

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s technology, designed to detect invisibility and camouflage, had failed to provide any useful information. The agents were left to confront an enemy whose nature defied their conventional methods.

Natasha, seeing the predicament, ordered, "We need to hold him off. The chief said support was on the way."

The agents split into strategic positions, surrounding Xu Mo once more. However, they were now cautious, relying on heavy weapons rather than a direct assault.

Xu Mo began to move with a "click" that reverberated ominously. Hawkeye, noticing the ground's slight collapse, shouted, "Continue attacking! We need to focus on the source of the sound waves."

An agent was instructed to track the sound and relay information. Meanwhile, Xu Mo's speed increased, his movements creating a heavy impact on the ground.

"Roar!!"

As Xu Mo charged forward, bullets from the agents continued to fire at the empty space, but they passed through without any visible effect. The projectiles did not produce the expected impact, leaving the agents bewildered.

Natasha gritted her teeth, firing her weapon in frustration, only to face the same result. "Are we missing it or is it simply not taking damage?"

The agents' attempts to hit Xu Mo proved futile. A rocket launcher was set up and fired, its shell striking the wall and causing a significant explosion. Rubble crashed down, and the wall fractured under the force.

"Impossible, I should have hit it!" one agent exclaimed in disbelief as he was thrown backward by the blast.

Hawkeye's face went pale. "Is such a large body really dodging our attacks?"

The underground structure began to shake violently as debris fell from the ceiling, and the walls were covered in cracks. Natasha recognized the danger and shouted, "The shell hit a pillar! We need to retreat!"

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s emergency response system was activated. A small lifeboat from the Quinjet was quickly lowered, and the agents scrambled to escape.

Daredevil and his team, realizing the peril of being trapped underground, quickly joined the evacuation, with the Punisher leading them to safety.

Xu Mo watched as the lifeboat began to rise. With a single, fluid motion, he launched himself into the air, his body propelling upward with explosive force. In an instant, he overtook the lifeboat and soared out of the building, disappearing from view with a series of rapid Shunpo movements.

As Xu Mo's form vanished from sight, Natasha and the agents could only watch helplessly. The lifeboat, now safely outside, witnessed the catastrophic collapse of the building. A blinding fireball erupted on the horizon, signaling the destruction below.

The building, overwhelmed by the collapse, crumbled into a massive inferno. The agents, safe but shaken, could only watch as the flames consumed the remains of the structure.

From the safety of their position, Natasha remarked, "Did you see that? We need to regroup and reassess."

Hawkeye, still pale from the ordeal, replied, "If that was Xu Mo's power, then we have much more to worry about."

In the aftermath, as the flames continued to blaze, Xu Mo's actions had demonstrated the formidable nature of his abilities. The battle had shifted dramatically, leaving everyone to contend with the consequences of their confrontation.
