Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: Test to Defeat a Vampire's Nest

Mr. Shine stepped in front of me, to protect me. He took his vampire stake, and threatened to attack Mrs. Hey's heart. She started to go after Mr. Shine, like I was pathetic. Then, Mrs. Hey burst out chuckling. The nervous, shaking principal turned to my attention. I shrugged, and Mr. Shine and I cuddled closer to defend ourselves from the teacher monster.

Twirling around, Mrs. Hey cornered us behind her desk. She pinned us against the blackboard. And she started sniffing us hungrily, like we were her lunch date. Mrs. Hey glanced uneasily at Mrs. Hey's vampire stake pointed at her chest. Taking the wooden stake, Mrs. Hey snatched it out of the principal's hand. She snapped in half, and tossed it inside a wastebasket, beside her desk.

"You don't want to do this, Mrs. Hey," I said, nervously. Trembling like a leaf, like I was going to blow away in the wind, Mrs. Hey belted out crude laughter. "I'm serious, go back to the planet you came from. This school is a mistake. You can't mistreat us, just because you're hungry for middle grade students. You need to go on a diet, so your health will be safe and last longer. Please, give us a chance for survival. And we can get along on planet Earth, like friends," I explained, hoping Mrs. Hey would have a change of heart.

The alien teacher growled and narrowed her buggy, glowing eyes at me. Nothing mattered more important to me than to defend myself. As I stepped back to hide behind the row of desks, Mrs. Hey leaped on top of the student's desk in front of me. "I should snack on you now, filthy student!" Mrs. Hey opened her mouth and showed fangs. They drooled on me and she pinned me against the floor again.

Struggling to fight the ugly monster off me, I looked around for the vampire stake again. The principal, Mr. Shine, jumped from behind the teacher's desk and tackled Mrs. Hey from behind her back. She almost nicked me in the neck, and I almost bled. Scrambling to my feet, I watched as the principal and the teacher wrestled.

"You're seriously starting to annoy me, Mr. Shine!" Mrs. Hey snapped. "You knew we came here to straighten these kids out! They're just not for midnight snacks, but to help control the school from making kids dumb these days!" Mrs. Hey shoved and kicked Mr. Shine in the stomach. Making him fly across the other side of the room.

Suddenly, we turned and saw a laughing and talking girl, chatting with some friends outside the hall entering the classroom. The lovely, red-haired girl who entered the blinking lit, foggy class, looked confused. Mrs. Hey returned to her beautiful blond form. And she walked over to the young schoolgirl wearing her school uniform. The nice student popped some bubble gum. And smiled.

I started to help Mr. Shine to his feet. He grabbed a vampire stake off the floor next to him where he fell. Mrs. Hey turned around and face off, her golden yellow hair fell over her left shoulder. She pointed at me and her eyes seemed to glow.

Mr. Shine tried to stop me from obeying the teacher. But I couldn't help it. Grabbing her cold, silky hands, Mrs. Hey introduced me to this new student. "Monty, this is the new exchange student we're accepting. Would you care to assist her? Make..." She turned back to the little girl's attention for her name. She whispered her name in Mrs. Hey's ear. "Ms. Traci Troll welcome and at home," Mrs. Hey walked out of the classroom, smiling and locked us inside.

I turned to look at her with uneasy eyes. I knew she was interested in flirting with me. Because we both are attractive kids. And this was not how I wanted it to go. Before Ms. Troll could make a move, Mr. Shine stepped in front of us. He turned to the exchange student and threatened the vampire stake in her heart. "Show me them," he said.

Looking assaulted, Ms. Troll stepped back and pouted. Feeling frustrated, Mr. Shine apologized. "Your fangs. To prove you're not undead. Every kid here in town seems to be attracted to the occult of the living bloodsuckers. You don't want to bite us, do you?" Mr. Shine asked, looking worried.

Ms. Troll looked emotionless. Then, she burst out laughing. "Right, of course! I'm like every other weird kid in this school who wants to feed on human blood. Like I need it to survive!" Traci stopped laughing and realized we were looking serious. "Oh god, it's happening, isn't it?" She sat at a desk and put her pink backpack around the chair and cried.

Mr. Shine and I took our seats next to her. "Tell us everything you know. Why came to Stone Heart?" Mr. Shine asked, putting the vampire stake on the desk in front of him. Traci sniffled her nose and looked at us. She hiccupped and took a deep breath.

Taking her hand in between her shiny, red hair, she twirled it nervously in her fingers. "Okay. So, I started getting these dreams. Not just at night. But during the day. It started on my tenth birthday at my old school, last year. I had this dream that an alien invasion was going to invade middle school. And transform all the students into undead vampires. Because it seems Abracadabra Middle School was warning me of the end of the world. I couldn't trust anyone except my parents, who promised me a new school transfer would protect my dreams from becoming living nightmares. That's why I'm here. To make sure my dreams aren't real," Traci explained, eyes wide with fear.

She started to tremble like having a seizure. Her green eyes glowed white and rolled back inside her head. Mr. Shine and I tried to support Traci, but we didn't know how to assist her.

Then, pointing outside the flashing lights of the darkened sky of our window, a silver flying saucer with flashing lights around its ship appeared before us. And started beaming up some kids who were running away from the playground. I knew middle school was going to be taken over soon...
