Chapter 6 - Arc 1

The bar was dimly lit, with a haze of smoke lingering in the air and the low hum of conversations creating a thick atmosphere. Ye Mu ZhiXia bar looked like an ordinary bar on the outside, but it was merely a shell to cover the dark dealings of the underworld.

Ye Jin walked through the bar, blending in as if she was one of them. She had sneaked in earlier by knocking out one of the bar attendants and stealing their identity and clothes. She sighed, quite grateful to have an OP system by her side, as she had asked it earlier to interfere with the security cameras.

She had thought, 'Why go through a lot of stress when I have a golden finger with me?'

GMS 005 couldn't help but agree with her, it said, [I am indeed quite strong.]

Ye Jin chuckled, finding this creature quite likable.

After spending more than 30 minutes in the bar pretending to be an attendant and listening to the complaints of angry drunkards, Ye Jin stepped out to take a breath of fresh air. The cool night breeze brushed through her, and she couldn't help but say with satisfaction, "Ahh, that's quite nice."

The fresh air was a relief. The crowded, smoky bar had reminded her too much of the days when she had just started her training. Ye Juan had made her a mere guard, giving her the duty to stand and watch for danger while deals were made in the private room. She had been made a guard because Ye Juan told her that nothing could be truly understood without starting from the basics. At times, the room would be filled with the strong stench of tobacco and expensive cigarettes. Though her father greatly detested it, it seemed that all the people he had dealings with loved smoking or drinking something. She had once asked one why, and they told her that it made them more confident in the dealings.

Her father had replied coldly but rudely, "Or maybe it's because you're trying to hide your incompetence." A huge fight ensued after that sentence, and 10 or more so people died.

Ye Juan had labeled their deaths as "unfortunate casualties caused by a bruised ego."

Since then, no one had dared smoke or drink in front of her father again.

Ye Jin chuckled softly to herself, unable to deny that she missed her father a lot.

High above, Gu Yan was lazily lounging on the rooftop of the bar. His brother had told him to watch out while he made a deal with a rival gang. If the rival gang refused the deal, they were to attack, nipping any problem in the bud. They also very well knew the rival gang thought the same. Thus, henchmen were planted all over the bar, in which he was to lead.

"I'm bored," Gu Yan said lazily, yawning. "When will the fun start?"

His eyes scanned the crowd below, preying for chaos to ensue. A sudden feeling of anticipation washed over him as he locked eyes on a familiar figure.

'Wasn't that the weird girl from the rooftop?' Gu Yan thought as he stared intently at this unexpected variable. His heart raced slightly, a mixture of curiosity and excitement bubbling within him. 'What is she doing here?'

Gu Yan knew that she was definitely not an attendant because he had never seen her before at the bar, as he had frequented the place often. Unless, of course, she was a new employee, but something told him otherwise.

Ye Jin felt a gaze on the back of her neck; she couldn't be mistaken—she was being watched. She looked in the direction of the gaze instinctively and locked eyes with Gu Yan. For a moment, time seemed to stand still. A chill ran down her spine as she recognized the madness lurking behind his smile.

' This Kid was really dangerous' Ye Jin thought

Gu Yan smiled and waved at her, his expression seemingly innocent yet disturbingly eerie. But with an indifferent expression, Ye Jin turned and walked back into the bar.

Gu Yan's lips formed an innocent but eerie smile. 'Maybe I've found a new toy,' he thought, feeling a surge of excitement.

Gu Yan continued to watch her, his mind whirring with possibilities, until suddenly—

BANG!
