Chapter 14 - 13: Results

I'm occasionally chilling in JaxWolf4's (Author of Nah, I'd Adapt) Discord Server. It's a chaotic lobotomy mess. Not for the faint of heart.

-Story Start-

April 9th, 2234.

Noon.

Today, was yet another fateful day.

A stressful, anxiety-filled two weeks have flown by since U.A.'s Entrance Exams.

And, within the passage of two weeks, the results should be coming in the mail of each participant before the sun sets.

...Though personally speaking for the brothers - The mailman might have some trouble getting to their mailbox.

...Not that they have a mailbox to begin with.

But, it seemed that, unlike their concerned and impatient peers:

Itadori Yuji and Todo Aoi found other ways to blow off the great deal of 'anxiety' they were feeling at these tremulous times.

...Choso was there cause he cared if anyone asked.

-------------------------------

A rainy noon came upon Musutafu.

The rain clouds and the gentle pitter-patter of the rain created a murky, almost melancholic atmosphere.

Thankfully, the outside climate was nothing to worry for those currently indoors:

A decently sized mall, its modest size filled to the brim with people.

Either here for shopping...

Or for the show currently ongoing in the central podium set-up a little while ago.

Stuffy as people crowded, surrounded by bright lights and loud music.

In front of their eyes, on top of the podium stood three cheerful girls who sang and danced with shaky delight.

Indeed, it was as you had surmised:

This was one of the first concerts of Takada-chan & Ali/en-chan & Phony-chan.

An event of great importance.

Greater than the results of the U.A. Entrance Exam.

Or so... Aoi likes to say.

Speaking of which...

Yuji leaned in over the crowd noise, "...I'd have expected front-row seats." He arched an eyebrow, slightly perplexed.

A sound argument.

Could you blame him?

There they were... In the last row, overlooking the entire idol concert.

Choso was with an expression of pure concentration, trying his best albeit with great struggle to enjoy the event for Aoi's sake.

As for Aoi?

A chiseled and concentrated expression on his face, the epitome of stoicism.

His eyes sharper than knives glared like a hawk over the crowd, quickly transitioning from Takada and the other fellow Idol lovers.

Nevertheless...

Dear Takada-chan was far and out of reach.

A small, almost regretful smile formed on Aoi's face, "I need a good vantage point to make sure Takada-chan is safe and undisturbed." He nodded matter-of-factly.

Choso chimed in, "She has security." He pointed lazily at the uniformed and quirked men standing protectively.

"No greater than I." Aoi left no room for argument, stating his grand role.

"You should enjoy yourself, little brother. Sacrificing yourself like this..." Choso lamented.

He might not understand Aoi's worship of Takada.

But he can sympathize.

...Kinda.

Scratching his chin, Yuji mentioned, "Although slightly creepy, I think it's respectable that you're going out of your way to help her, especially if it ruins your own fun." He gave an encouraging thumbs-up.

Aoi chuckled with a great deal of internal suffering, "It is a sacrifice I am willing to make... But worry not, my brothers. I do not seek recognition, as long as Takada-chan is successful, I am pleased." A tear trickled down his face.

Choso gasped, touched by his gesture.

Yuji patted Aoi's shoulders in encouragement.

...

They really stuck out like a sore thumb amid the Otaku Target Audience.

Narrowing his eyes and collecting himself, Aoi mentioned, "Regardless... Takada and the girls seem a little on edge today." He noted with a stroke of his chin.

Choso hummed, "You mentioned they were planning on Heroics? They might have applied to any of the schools in the prefecture. Everyone gets their results today." He mentioned.

"You suggest the results due to today are on their minds... That is likely." Aoi hummed with a lowered head.

A troubled expression crossed Yuji's features as he mumbled, "Is it just me or is this whole Hero thing overdramatic?"

Aoi without leaving his protective gaze from Takada-chan asked, "Elaborate, my friend."

Tapping the scar on his left lip, Yuji absentmindedly voiced his thoughts, "Kids our age-" He corrected, "My age, are treating these things like it's life or death."

Todo Aoi is 15.

Todo Aoi is 15.

Todo Aoi is 15.

Huh, that was weird.

Yuji continued with a lowered head, "Heroes. Villains. What's the issue with a normal job? Hell if you want to help people there's Police, Firefighting... And stuff!"

Ignoring the loud noise surrounding them and the moist air of so many people being cluttered in one place, Yuji lifted his head to look at the ceiling of the mall, "Honestly, this whole Hero thing is looking less and less appealing... Rescue 'Hero' take it or leave it." He nodded resolutely.

Though, if he were honest, Yuji wasn't sure what he wanted at all.

Choso smiled knowingly, "Are you practicing on your demand in the later years of Hero School? You decide what Hero you want to be, and no one else."

Yuji shrugged, deciding to shelve the issue, this wasn't a good time to contemplate these things, they were in a concert, "I guess."

"Fret not, brother. You simply must firmly decide on a set course, and you shall achieve your goals with little difficulty." Aoi encouraged, a single eye turned to meet with Yuji's own.

A smirk appeared on his face, he pointed an enthusiastic thumb at himself, "What if I want to be a scientist?"

...

A deadpan formed on both Choso and Aoi's faces.

His shoulder slumped, huffing out of his nose, "Okay, assholes."

-------------------------------

April 9th, 2234.

Evening.

The three brothers made their way home after a satisfying pastime in Takada's concert, having grabbed a cheap meal with a discount in Choso's joint, they returned back to their apartment.

Slowly climbing the stairs to their apartment, their feet wet thanks to the rain and umbrella in hand the brothers carefully sneaked towards the door.

The reason?

"Nakari-san's evening nap is sacred. We'll get our butts kicked if we don't sneak around." Yuji reminded as he led the way, their old neighbor was a poor sleeper.

His older brothers nodded as they followed him, and eventually, they reached the door to their apartment.

Only to freeze at a surprising sight.

"Surprised they got here on time, I'd expected you to get the news in a week," Choso mentioned with a glint of intrigue in his eyes.

"Quite. But not unexpected given the reach of U.A... Or he's one brave mailman." Aoi chuckled.

Yuji frowned, "I feel sorry for the guy..." His tone was laced with sympathy as he lowered himself to grab the mail named for him and Aoi.

While it's not like you actually get attacked if you try and pass through here, you have to have a certain look and attitude to not be a target in the Musutafu Ghetto.

Or in the brothers' case... A fist-shaped reputation.

Opening the door with a very slow but screeching creak, a clear cringe on Yuji's face as he gently turned his head to make sure the neighbor hadn't woken up, he gave a thumbs-up to his brothers.

They reciprocated the gesture and entered with him, closing the door to their warm and welcoming home.

"Hey, the door knob didn't fall today!" Yuji cheered.

If the door knob doesn't fall when you get back home, it's a sign of a good day in the Three Brothers Household!

With a clear lack of patience, Yuji rushed to their only sofa and sat down his other two brothers sat to his left and right respectively.

Holding the two letters in between his fingers, he flailed them around, "Which one do we start with first?"

...

"I know where this is goin-" Choso huffed.

A broad menacing grin formed on both Yuji and Aoi's faces.

""ROCK""

""PAPER""

""SCISSORS""

""SHOOT!""

They yelled simultaneously as they threw their hands in front of each other.

Yuji had used Rock.

Aoi had used Paper.

Immediately, Yuji crashed to the floor with a thud, foaming at the mouth as his body quivered from the sheer shock.

Aoi shook his head with a chuckle, "It is my victory, brother."

"KEEP IT QUIET YOU BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATS!" A loud, banshee-like roar reverberated beyond their paper-thin walls and door.

"I'M SORRY NAKARI-SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" Yuji replied with a genuine, similarly loud apology.

"So she heard that but not the screeching creak of our door?" Choso arched an eyebrow.

-------------------------------

The letter intended for Aoi was held between his muscular fingers, torn apart with ease.

From it, a small, metallic circular device emerged.

The three brothers sat in eager anticipation to see what secret it held...

And the moment it landed softly on their table and stabilized itself, it immediately turned on.

From it, emerged a large screen - A hologram for the technically unsavvy like Choso.

And with it, a thunderous voice and a recognizable face emerged on it.

...

"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!"

There he was, in a fancy yellow business suit and a little card that was dwarfed by his sheer size.

The Number 1 Hero.

All Might.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ALL MIGHT JUMPSCARE!" Yuji jumped from his sofa at the spook.

The projection video continued playing with clear disregard for Yuji's spooked state, "Surprised, aren't you? Indeed! I am not just here to fight Villains. You are now looking at the newest Faculty Member of U.A Highschool! HAHAHAHAHA!"

Aoi had an almost knowing smile, "Hoho, I do not find it a coincidence that the Number 1 Hero has decided to turn to teaching the moment we decide to attend U.A." He hummed pleased.

""It's a coincidence."" Yuji and Choso deadpanned collectively.

Though, whether the three brothers wanted to admit it or not, All Might's sudden appearance was the last thing they expected.

He's got an almost... Deityesque aura around him.

Although it felt muffled in the presence of these 'Foreigners' that only recently settled in, they still couldn't shake off the charisma this man radiated even through a screen.

"NOW THEN! Onto your results." All Might coughed as he unfolded his little card to read from it.

He looked into the screen as he gave his two cents, "Todo Aoi. You have obtained a perfect grade on your written test! Your dedication and nack for studying is greatly praiseworthy!"

Folding his arms, Aoi's confident grin persisted, "Child's play."

"Oi, I fought for my life back there." Yuji frowned.

"My apologies."

All Might chuckled and whispered into the camera as he leaned in, "Between the two of us, I did horribly in my own test back in the day! HAHAHAHAHAH!"

"Not surprising," Choso commented.

Truth be told, his opinion of the Number 1 has been getting lower and lower as of late.

Choso recalled something he had to research, "After this can you help me search the internet for something?" He requested.

"Yeah, sure!" Yuji volunteered.

All Might continued his prerecorded words unbothered, "As for your practical test... We at U.A. commend you for your valiant display of..." He sweatdropped, honest to a fault, "Heroic qualities and keen intellect. And fittingly... You have earned your spot in our Academy as the Top Scorer. Breaking an all-time record as well as a proud Student of Class 1-A!" He announced with a degree of more enthusiasm.

Then, a screen appeared in front of all of them, showing the top 10 practical exam scorers:

[EXAMINATION RESULT]:

[1st: Aoi Todo - 190 Villain Points & 60 Rescue Points]

[2nd: Yuji Itadori - 162 Villain Points & 40 Rescue Points]

[3rd: Eijiro Kirishima - 39 Villain Points & 35 Rescue Points]

[4th: Ibara Shiozaki - 36 Villain Points & 32 Rescue Points]

[5th: Itsuka Kendo - 25 Villain Points & 40 Rescue Points]

[6th: Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu - 49 Villain Points & 10 Rescue Points]

[7th: Fumikage Tokoyami - 47 Villain Points & 10 Rescue Points]

[8th: Yosetsu Awase - 50 Villain Points & 6 Rescue Points]

[9th: Mezo Shoji - 34 Villain Points & 10 Rescue Points]

[10th: Katsuki Bakugo - 39 Villain Points & 0 Rescue Points]

...

As the three brothers processed the information, All Might's rang out with passion.

"As you may have surmised during the test, Young Todo. There are Rescue Points. A Hero isn't only measured by his capacity for combat! But for his spirit! His Heroic Spirit!" He roared passionately.

"Congratulations, and welcome... TO YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!"

He winked at the screen, "We have high hopes for you and your brother here in the faculty! Break more records of mine, will you? I am counting on the next generation! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!"

It promptly turned off, leaving one last show of encouragement from the past:

[1st: 'All Might' - 180 Villain Points & 30 Rescue Points]

...

"Hmph, as expected of you two." Choso snickered, a smug smirk on his face.

"It was nothing we couldn't handle," Aoi smirked back.

And finally... The pressure mounted on Yuji's shoulders.

He frowned, "I just hope I got accepted to General Studies through my performance in the practical..." He admitted with a sigh.

He dreaded the news of his 'Written Exam'.

The devil's work, that thing.

Nudging Yuji's shoulder, Choso met Yuji's raised head with a perplexed expression, "Did you not hear All Might's words? They have high hopes for YOU and Aoi. You both were accepted to Heroics."

...

"Huh, nice!" Yuji grinned.

He cheered up, "Guess that means I don't need to know if I did well on the writt-"

Choso rejected the notion immediately, "No, we still have to figure out which class you belong to."

"...Right." Yuji sighed a begrudging, defeated sigh.

...

Another round of All Might projection dropped a Bombshell on the Brothers' Table.

"Class 1-B!" All Might cheerfully announced.

...

A crack in the table was heard, Choso and Yuji's eyes turned to see Aoi gripping the table too hard, a waterfall of tears flowing from his eyes.

"I-I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT! MY BROTHERRRRRRRRRRRR!"

And so, the two brothers on the lit path of heroism took their first baby steps to their certain and uncertain goals respectively.

...

Whilst others were beaten, battered, and thrown off course.

-------------------------------

"I am sorry, Young Midoriya. You failed."

A trembling, nervous, and stern announcement from All Might came through that screen.

And with it, it all came crashing down for one...

Izuku Midoriya.

The 9th Successor Of One For All.

Where does he go from here?
