Chapter 3 - 3: Reveal

Quick note - MHA's actual year timeline isn't revealed, so I'm taking creative leverage to decide what year is what. Also, I'm ignoring that 20XX bullcrap.

I'm also occasionally chilling in JaxWolf4's (Author of Nah, I'd Adapt) Discord Server. It's a chaotic lobotomy mess. Not for the faint of heart.

-Story Start-

Silence reigned in the room as Yuji and Choso waited, albeit impatiently, for Doctor Tenma to have a look at Aoi.

Questions truly lingered in their minds, and with a silent exchange, they'd agree to leave it for after Aoi's situation stabilizes.

Nevertheless, unvoiced questions allow for lingering thoughts and speculation to run rampant.

Although a miracle, the absurdity of Choso's revival as well as being seemingly teleported all the way to the Akita prefecture was rough to digest.

But the true conundrum lay in the reality they were greeted here in Akita.

A town, filled with people who either looked like Humanoid Cursed Spirits or Sorcerors playing around with their Cursed Technique.

It was almost funny, so many sorcerers making up a whole town.

Jujutsu sorcerers could barely reach the thousands in number, and this town appeared to have hundreds of them hustling about.

Yuji had confirmed these weren't Cursed Spirits nor a manifestation of a Cursed Technique.

These were, undoubtedly, Human beings with something attached to their soul.

Whatever that was, likely resulted in their capabilities and... Quirks.

Choso's thoughts and frustrations mirrored Yuji's own.

Quirk.

Heteromorph.

Those words flew over their head earlier, but they seemed to hold significant importance.

Scratching his dirty pink hair, Yuji huffed in irritation and fatigue, slowly lowering himself to a seating position, "Big brother, could you wake me up when he's here? I need..." His lone eye twitched in exhaustion, "To take a breather."

Although Yuji would have not liked to admit it, he was... Exhausted and although he could ignore the pain, his body was nearing its limits.

The fight with Sukuna, the awakenings, and the recurrent usage of Reverse Cursed Technique on top of his low output of Shrine had taken their toll on him.

It would have been much worse had the cost of using Domain Expansion actually gone through.

Truthfully, had Choso and Aoi not been here, Yuji would have managed to run all the way to Shinjuku even in his current state.

Unfortunately, Choso did have a point.

At the calling of his title, a genuine smile formed on Choso, "Rest as much as you need, little brother."

The grim possibilities were shuffled into the back of their minds for later, as Yuji closed his lone eye.

The exhaustion managed to lull him asleep in nearly an instant.

The keenly aware Choso, albeit worried and anxious, kept his composure as he narrowed his eyes at the room.

Despite the rural nature of the town they found themselves in, the clinic was rather advanced technologically.

Choso wasn't too familiar with the large television in the room, nor the other devices beside him.

A few minutes later, his patience was wearing thin, and if he had waited any longer, he'd certainly find the Doctor himself and drag him here by force if need be.

But... He came across a curious object in the room.

One, that had made him pause.

It was...

A calendar.

It was rather innocent, all things considered.

The day and month matched what they remembered - December 24th.

The only issue was...

A reality that made his mind boggle.

The year wasn't 2018.

...

It was the year 2233.

December 24th, 2233.

Over two hundred years in the future.

The first emotion to wash over Choso's expression was disbelief.

'We're we teleported to the future?' He thought.

Possibilities and what this could mean for them stormed in his mind.

His expression hardened, lowering his gaze at the bedridden Aoi beside him and then shifting it to the sleeping Yuji.

'Whatever happens. I will protect my little brothers.' He nodded to himself.

To Choso... The situation truly didn't matter.

The three of them will discover the truth of the matter eventually and soon, of that he was sure.

Then an obvious question rang aloud in Choso's mind...

How would they adjust to this groundbreaking future reality?

The answers came instantly:

His brothers are strong, willful, and determined they'd have no trouble adjusting, that was another certainty.

Aoi was a True Jujutsu Sorceror, regardless of the situation, he'd thrive.

Yuji has grown immensely and is a boy who is ever-evolving and has yet to reach his full potential.

Yuji having surpassed Choso was a source of pride to the older brother.

He'd have no problem adjusting, whatever comes.

As for Choso?

Accepting the possibility of this reality was truly of no issue for him - He maintained clarity regarding what was important.

To him, what was truly important?

Whether it was the past, the present, or the future.

Or even another world.

What was truly important... Was that his little brothers were safe, healthy, and happy.

Guide and protect.

For that, was Choso's purpose.

That was the role... Of a big brother.

What he'd like more than anything in this world...

Was to live as a human alongside his dear little brothers.

Nodding to himself, Choso decided it'd be better for Yuji to rest for now and to relay the situation when he woke up.

Because... 'We may not need to rush for Shinjuku. As there may not be a Sukuna to deal with.' The thought resonated in his mind.

Nonetheless, Choso wasn't quick to jump to conclusions, although it was unlikely a Calendar had been played with for the sakes of it to show an over 200-year difference, Choso maintained an impressive level of prudence.

And so, he anxiously and impatiently waited...

-------------------------------

It was a few short minutes after Choso's disturbing discovery that he could hear footsteps and muffled talks outside the door, the voices louder as they got closer.

He rose up from his leaning position on the wall to gaze at the sliding door, revealing the prior polite receptionist and a man donning a laboratory coat.

The man didn't appear to have any quirky additions or visible augmentations/abilities, and with a simple lookover, Choso concluded this man was Doctor Tenma.

The two men met eyes, a silent exchange being made as the receptionist stated, "These two are the patients." She gestured at the sleeping Yuji and Aoi.

Turning to Aoi, she added, "His situation's more dire-"

Tenma nodded at Choso as he shifted his gaze to the sleeping Aoi, "Thank you, Hina. I'll take it from here."

The now-named Hina bowed respectfully, turning with a smile at Choso, who stood stiff as he observed the doctor approaching and examining Aoi beside him.

She mentioned, "Do not worry, Doctor Tenma is the best there is."

He nodded back at her, not mirroring her expression, but internally hoping she was right.

The door slid to a close at her exit, as Choso's attention was brought to the blinking awake Yuji, "I-Is the doctor here?" He let out a pained and tired mumble.

As Yuji slowly rose back up to his feet, Choso nodded, "He's taking a look at Aoi."

The two brothers turned to the Doctor, who was in deep concentration as he examined Aoi's wounds.

Noting the particularly nasty purple clot in Aoi's stomach and the unique stitching the doctor called attention to the conscious brothers, "Does he have any Quirk that changes his physiology."

Choso's eyes narrowed once more, 'Quirk, that term again.'

A thin line formed on Yuji's expression, "Quirk...? What do you mean by that? I'm sorry but we've got no clue what a quirk is." He bluntly stated.

The doctor froze for a moment turning to look at the brothers incredulously.

Choso nodded to affirm the truth behind Yuji's words.

The doctor frowned, alarm bells rang in his mind, but he shook his head in favor of saving the life of his patient.

He gave a textbook answer, "A quirk is a unique meta ability that had started manifesting in humans as far back as 200 years ago. Quirks can be categorized into different types, but they mainly are - Emitter, Transformation, and Mutant."

Elaborating, "The reason I am asking whether this boy has a quirk is primarily because of the Mutant variety which changes the human physiology in either a minor or major manner."

Those two sentences sent Yuji and Choso for a loop, as they considered and mulled his words.

Choso collected himself and immediately replied, "No, he does not have a quirk."

Meeting eyes, Tenma nodded, about to continue his work, only to pause at Yuji's inquiry.

Shaking his head to focus on the matter at hand, Yuji questioned, "Will he be okay, Doctor?"

Tenma turned a serious look amid his plastered smile, "He will. I will not yet inquire as to what caused such horrid blunt-force trauma on his abdomen. However, I must perform surgery, he's got internal bleeding that was roughly patched up and slowed down. Though, it undoubtedly saved his life."

Yuji's eyes brightened with hope as he turned to look at Choso eagerly.

Choso nodded pridefully, having contributed to saving his brother.

And showed off to Yuji.

Nonetheless, their expressions hardened, nodding in understanding.

Aoi was still in a precarious situation.

"Tell Hina to prepare the Surgery Room. I'll take this young man there." The Doctor ordered.

Aoi's life was on the line, they obviously showed no hesitation as the brothers headed to the door.

Only to pause at the call out of the doctor as he clenched the bed and makeshift stretcher, "Are you in need of painkillers, son? I'll treat you as soon as I am done with his more alarming injury." Doctor Tenma asked looking over his shoulder.

Yuji smiled placatingly, "I'll be fine. Please, save my brother." He locked eyes with the gentle doctor, pleading genuinely.

"I'll do everything in my power to make sure he'll survive."

And, for now, that was enough to let relief wash over Yuji and Choso's faces.

Choso quickly took out the calendar in the room, folding and shoving it to his pocket.

-------------------------------

Aoi was taken into surgery, as his two fellow brothers sat outside the surgery room with anxious and worried expressions.

Although the Doctor's words were a great source of relief, it was cleary never enough.

They need to see a healthy Aoi to be truly convinced.

Sighing, Yuji mumbled, "Give me a second."

Although having only gotten a bit of shuteye, Yuji managed to get some respite and energy back from his chaotic and intense fight against the King Of Curses.

Enough to regain his ability to utilize Reverse Cursed Technique.

With a degree of concentration, Yuji closed his eye as he created positive energy by multiplying his negative energy against itself.

Although capable of Reverse Cursed Technique, he was still a novice and needed a degree of concentration to properly be utilized.

Thus within a few seconds, all of Yuji's bruises and injuries healed.

Most notably, his grotesquely damaged eye had been healed as well, he opened it with a few blinks.

Letting out a sigh of relief, "Ah, much better..." His shoulders slumped.

"Yuji." Choso called out neutrally.

"Hmm? What is it Choso?" Yuji turned to his brother, only to see him pointing at a few awestruck passersby and staff members, their jaws hanging in the air at the unnatural display of healing.

He blinked, waving his clawed hands in a friendly wave, "Uh, hi?" He gave them a tilted-head look.

The awestruck crowd had felt slightly embarrassed at them gaping so obviously, so they quickly dispersed, mumbling something about "Amazing Regeneration Quirk".

Yuji frowned, "Quirk... What was that Doctor saying, anyway?"

Choso sighed, as he bluntly presented the truth to Yuji, a truth Aoi will have to be conveyed soon as well, "Yuji, listen closely." His tone was serious as he shoved his hand into his pocket.

Yuji turned to Choso, immediately managing to read his brother's intentions, "It's related to what you asked Hana-san earlier, right?" Choso nodded in affirmation.

Yuji continued, "I'm listening." He nodded, his expression mirroring Choso's seriousness.

Choso's hand left his pocket, revealing a folded calendar.

Unfolding it, the contents made Yuji's eyes widen.

December 24th, 2233.

Choso started before Yuji could react, "We're either two hundred years in the future. Or we're in another world that is two hundred years in the future."

With a thin line on his face, Choso presented his theory, "We'll need to get a good account of the history. But if we're going by the Doctor's own words, I'd wager the latter is more plausible. The removal of Cursed Energy and the advent of these... Quirks in two hundred years make no sense, even assuming..."

The name still left a vomit-inducing taste in Choso's mouth, "Kenjaku's plan worked out and Sukuna won, this would never have been the result. Sukuna wouldn't have let this happen."

Choso's theory was reaching quite a lot, but there was some merit to it.

Nonetheless, the truth could only be revealed through a historical account of Japan over these alleged two hundred years.

Yuji's fists clenched, his gaze lowered to the floor.

Many, many thoughts raced in that mind of his.

The foremost conclusion was that regardless of whether this world was the future or not...

Sukuna... Won.

They... Lost.

He couldn't help but bite the lip he had healed once more, the metallic taste of blood tainting his taste buds.

His frustrations, helplessness, and loathing of Sukuna only grew and stormed in his mind.

Then, the other most vital question came to mind, as his eyes narrowed, his gaze purposeful as he lifted his head.

Two hundred years in the future does not mean...

That Sukuna Is Gone.

Is that loathsome, pitiable, and vile being still alive and kicking?

Hiding within his fingers, or wherever else he may be lurking in.

The mere happenstance of this being the future they lost, and Sukuna still being alive and breathing sent a wave of fury down to Yuji's very core.

Yuji was adamant about confirming Choso's theory, impulsively rash as it was.

He rose up instantly, "Yuji?" Choso questioned in concern.

Yuji's gaze was a scary one, as he approached one passerby woman who strolled through the hallway in front of them, she appeared to be one of the non "Quirky" ones here.

She froze at Yuji's rather threatening and piercing gaze, yet he addressed her calmly and politely, "Excuse me, miss."

Yuji was usually never this threatening, but circumstances call for action.

"Y-Yes?" She had a hesitant and rather impatient expression on her.

Looking down on the muscular and grotesque clawed arms of Yuji caused an uneasiness in her body language noticeable by anyone with a bit of sense.

Yuji was keen on keeping it short, then.

"Have you ever heard of the name - Ryomen Sukuna? The King Of Curses?" He pointedly asked.

A silent, almost awkward silence enveloped the two of them, Choso looking on from afar intently... And protectively.

She mumbled, "Umm, is that like a Hero Alias? Or some kind of Villain?" She hazarded a guess.

Yuji blinked, his features softening, yet still not convinced, "Let's go with that... Umm, like no big supervillain around two hundred years ago?"

Folding her arms, she tilted her head, gaining some pep in her tone at Yuji's sudden loosened stature, "Is this a Quirk History pop quiz? Kid, I have no clue. If there was one so significant, we'd have been taught in school about him. So no, I have no idea about this weirdo of yours." She scoffed, turning away and leaving Yuji standing there.

He blinked, shouting at the distancing figure of the woman, "Wait, miss! One last question!"

Her eyes twitched as she ceased her footsteps, "What?"

"Culling Games. Kenjaku. Jujutsu. Does any of those ring any bells?" He asked.

Giving it a momentary thought, "Besides fictional comics regarding ancient Japanese sorcery? No kid, leave me alone." She promptly left.

A contemplative silence enveloped the two brothers as Yuji silently returned to his seat beside Choso.

"You were right... She didn't have to be a bitch about it though." Yuji mentioned with a serious expression, slightly annoyed at the rudeness of the lady.

He was just asking a few harmless questions after all.

Not gazing straight through her Soul accidentally or whatever...

Yuji and Choso were now 99% certain, that this was another world.

And with it... Came another revelation.

A revelation that brought some relief to the infuriated Yuji.

Sukuna is... Gone.

Besides Aoi's treatment, a lingering question loomed over the horizon for the brothers.

After they are in perfect health...

Where do they go from here?

What role will they take in this new Quirky Japan?

...What is for certain, is they have much to catch up on after Aoi's in better health.
