Chereads / Karna Reborn / Chapter 4 - I wanna be a hunter

Chapter 4 - I wanna be a hunter

It was the night time, as on the dinner table in Karna house, as Karna was eating with his family, Karna was eating at his food as he didn't know what to say.

Karna looked up and saw his family. Um can I say something.

Karna father looked at him. Yes, you can.

Karna looked at his family and sighed, his mother and sister always knew. I wanna become a Hunter

The room fell silent as Karna's words hung in the air. His father put down his utensils, looking at Karna with a serious expression. His mother, who had been bracing herself for this conversation, simply nodded, while Tapti looked up from her plate, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Karna's father, with his red hair and piercing blue eyes, leaned forward slightly. "Karna, are you sure about this? Being a Hunter isn't just about fighting monsters. It's dangerous work, and it requires a lot of training and commitment."

Karna met his father's gaze, nodding firmly. "I know, Dad. But after what happened today... I can't just ignore it. I feel like it's something I need to do. To protect people and make a difference."

His father sighed, rubbing his temples. "I understand your desire to help, but you have to consider the risks. We've already lost too many to these gates and the creatures inside them."

Karna's mother chimed in, her voice soft but concerned. "Karna, we just want you to be safe. We know you're brave and capable, but you're still young. Maybe there's another way you can help without putting yourself in such danger."

Karna took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Mom, Dad, I appreciate your concern, but this is something I've thought a lot about. I can't ignore this feeling. Today, when Ashwatthama and I faced that monster, I felt... alive. Like I was doing what I was meant to do."

Tapti, who had been quietly listening, spoke up. "Big brother, if you become a Hunter, does that mean you'll go away?"

Karna turned to her, softening his expression. "No, Tapti. Even if I become a Hunter, I'll still come home. I'll always be here for you and Mom and Dad. I promise."

His father leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "If you're serious about this, Karna, then you need to understand the responsibilities and dangers. There's a lot to learn and prepare for. You can't just rush into it."

Karna nodded. "I know. That's why I want to start training properly. I want to learn everything I can and be ready. I want to do this the right way."

There was a moment of silence as his parents exchanged a look. Finally, his father spoke again, his tone resigned but supportive. "If this is truly what you want, then we'll support you. But you have to promise us that you'll be careful and follow all the necessary precautions."

Karna felt a weight lift off his shoulders. "I promise, Dad. I'll be careful and do everything I can to stay safe."

His mother smiled, though it was tinged with worry. "Just remember, Karna, that no matter what happens, your safety comes first. We love you and want you to come back home to us."

Karna smiled, feeling a surge of warmth and gratitude for his family's support. "I love you too, all of you. And I promise, I'll make you proud."

With that, the family returned to their meal, the atmosphere a mix of solemnity and newfound resolve. Karna knew the path ahead wouldn't be easy, but with his family's support and his own determination, he felt ready to take the next steps toward becoming a Hunter.

Karna father then looked at him. You have one year to train, so yeah until then make the most of your time

Karna just looked at his parents and spoke. Will actually my birthday is next week so I C-

Both his mother and father then just lookrd at and said together. No next year

Karna was taken aback by the synchronized response from his parents. He let out a small sigh, realizing they were serious about him taking the time to prepare thoroughly.

His father, with a gentle but firm tone, continued, "Karna, we understand your eagerness, but one week isn't enough time to train and understand the risks and responsibilities of being a Hunter. We want you to have a solid foundation and be truly ready when the time comes."

His mother nodded in agreement. "We just want you to be safe and well-prepared, Karna. A year will give you time to train, learn more about the Hunters' world, and grow stronger. It's not just about turning 16; it's about being ready for what's out there."

Karna nodded, accepting their decision. "I understand. I'll use this year to train and prepare as best as I can."

Tapti, who had been quietly listening, smiled at her brother. "I'll help you train too, big brother! We can do it together."

Karna chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Thanks, Tapti. I'd appreciate that."

His father smiled, the tension in the room easing. "Good. Let's make the most of this year, then. We'll support you in every way we can, but remember, the journey to becoming a Hunter is as much about mental preparation as it is about physical strength."

Karna felt a renewed sense of determination. He knew his parents were right; he needed to be fully prepared for the challenges ahead. With their support and his own resolve, he was ready to embark on this journey, one step at a time.

The family resumed their meal, the atmosphere lighter now. They spent the rest of the evening discussing plans for training, potential mentors, and the resources Karna would need. It was clear that while they were concerned, they were also proud of his resolve and willing to help him pursue his path.

1 year later.

The hunter guild was not one guild, if it had to be explain it was like the UN, the guild was made of many hunters guild across the world, with it having a Branch in each country, they were to make sure eveyr hunter stayer in line and work for them making sure some of the laws they set were in the right way, the Hunter's guild was in the same Political power as the UN if only second to the UN, they were the ones to give ranking and make sure everything went as smoothly as possible, right now it was running it's yearly requirements for hunter, as on a monitor room bunch of people were seeing the screan.

On of them spoke. It looked like section B is doing will.

As the screen shows Section B as on was Ashwathama, as he was shown handling a few monster.

The hunter guide brings out Capture monster from the gate, these are very weak Monster, and are not problemd to bring out, Goblins and lizard people are the weakest so they are not much of a problem, as it shows Ashwathama talking a lot of them done with a Grimm one his face.

The examiner then spoke. He seems to strong and has the power of fire, I wonder what element he will get after he gets his awaking, also a perfect fit for my Guild.

Another Examiner then spoke. Sectional C also has a few people, particularly Two people

As the screen shows two people's one boy and one girl, the boy had long orange hair with that if a hair sticking up like a line, he was holding a golden sword, next to him was girl who looked kinda like his female version, she was bit smaller and had twin tales, she was holding a bow and arrow covering the boy

Examiner C then spoke. What were these two names

Examiner B then looked at the files. Let's see, the Boys name is Rama and the girls name is Sita.

Examiner C then spoke again. Two more people names after India legend, how interesting.

Examiner D then spoke. Why don't we all look at Section A especially on monitor 5, there is another one with heros name this one name is Karna

As the group of examiners focused their attention on monitor 5, the screen displayed a young man with striking red hair and piercing red eyes, a stark contrast to the creatures he was fighting. Karna, dressed in light armor that allowed for agility, moved gracefully through the battlefield. He wielded a long spear, its golden tip gleaming in the artificial light of the training arena.

The arena was filled with various low-level monsters, including goblins and small lizard-like creatures. Despite their low threat level, they served as a good test for the aspiring Hunters' basic combat skills and composure under pressure. Karna moved with precision, each strike of his spear deliberate and controlled. He seemed to be conserving energy, using just enough force to incapacitate the creatures without overexerting himself.

Examiner D leaned forward, intrigued. "He moves with a level of experience beyond his age. It's almost as if he's done this before."

Examiner A nodded. "He has the namesake of Karna, the legendary warrior of the Mahabharata. It's fitting that he shows such promise. His control and technique are impressive."

The camera zoomed in on Karna's face, revealing a calm and focused expression. He didn't seem fazed by the situation, instead moving with a confidence that suggested a deep understanding of combat. As the last goblin fell, Karna lowered his spear and took a deep breath, surveying the arena to ensure all the monsters were dealt with.

Another examiner, Examiner E, who had been silently observing, finally spoke up. "The report mentions that he has trained diligently over the past year. No doubt under strict guidance and self-discipline. But what's more intriguing is his aura—there's something... different about it."

Examiner B, holding the files, nodded. "Yes, there's a note here that he hasn't awakened his elemental power yet. But the evaluators have noted a strong affinity for the Sun element, similar to the legendary Karna's connection to Surya, the Sun God."

Examiner C glanced around at the group. "If he indeed has an affinity for the Sun element, his potential could be immense. The ability to manipulate such power is rare and valuable."

As the examiners continued to discuss, the camera switched to Karna's perspective. He was sheathing his spear, looking around the room with a sense of calm accomplishment. His training had paid off, and the experience of the past year had honed his skills. However, a part of him felt a tinge of unease. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, not just by the examiners, but by something... more.

Karna turned toward the entrance of the arena, where a group of officials and other applicants were waiting. He saw familiar faces among them—Ashwatthama, with his intense gaze and fiery aura, and the duo of Rama and Sita, who stood together with a sense of unity and strength. Each of them had their own reasons for being there, their own stories and motivations. Karna couldn't help but wonder how their paths might intertwine in the future.

As he exited the arena, Karna caught the eye of one of the examiners, who gave him a small nod of approval. It was a subtle acknowledgment, but it carried weight. The road to becoming a Hunter was long and fraught with challenges, but Karna felt ready. He had trained hard, and now, with his family's support and his own determination, he was prepared to take the next step.

The examiners turned their attention back to the screens, analyzing the performances of the other candidates. But as they did, they couldn't help but keep a watchful eye on Karna. There was something about him—something that hinted at a greatness yet to be fully realized. And in a world where gates to other realms could open at any moment, that greatness might soon be needed.
