I met Amanda's glare with one of my own, unflinching. "Cool idea or not, it's a shame it turned into a mess. Maybe next time, think about the risks before jumping in headfirst."
Amanda's eyes narrowed, but she said nothing. Instead, she focused on Jenny, who was now being helped by the nurse. The tension in the room was palpable, but I wasn't about to let it escalate further.
I took a deep breath, trying to shift my focus back to Jenny. "Look, whatever happened, we're all here for you now. Let's just make sure you get better and avoid any more impulsive decisions in the future."
Jenny gave me a weak smile, clearly grateful for the support. "Thanks, Terry. I appreciate it."
With that, I turned to Amanda and the others. "Let's just get Jenny back to the house and make sure she's comfortable. We can deal with the rest later."
As we left the clinic, the atmosphere was still tense, but it felt like a small step toward mending some of the fractured relationships in the house. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if we could find a way to get along, despite our differences.
