Luka and Phan looked at Rhys and laughed before looking at each other.
"Sure just don't go around pulling that dumb move on every person you see" Luka says patting Rhys in the back. The Kulia glances at Rhys smiling at his small introduction.
Rhys meets her eyes again before quickly turning away.
"So what classes do you have?"
Rhys says trying to start a conversation.
Luka smirks and wraps his arm around Phan's shoulder.
"Me and this idiot have the same Practical combat and History class but that's it.."
Luka snatches Rhys' schedule and sighs.
"God damnit why do you have to be a smartass" Luka says handing him it back.
"Nearly all your classes are 1's and A's"
He says scoffing before Phan smirks.
"It's probably because he doesn't spend most his time oogling women and actually try's to grow" he says as Luka steps back feigning ignorance.
"No beauty can go unnoticed by a true gentleman~!"
Luka says almost as if he's reciting a play, Phan punches his shoulder before the the sound of the bell rings throughout the school.
"We'll see you at lunch Rhys" Luka says before walking off with Phan. Rhys smiles proudly as he made two friends.
Did it mom!
He thought happily as he walked across the twisting halls. His thoughts then switch inwardly as he almost goes into autopilot looking at his 2 polys.
Ms.Yaln said it would take at least a day…
He thought as he tried to compress them again but the two spheres gave in but when he released his control it puffed back up. Hr left them alone as his attention returns to the outside as he notices out of the corner of his eye someone following him and calling his name.
"Fedora!"
It was a girl, Kulia.
She jogged towards him then huffing.
"Don't think I didn't notice"
She said before Rhys felt his cheeks lightly rose over
Did she get annoyed with me staring?
He thought to himself his brain going into overtime to avoid the situation
"How did you make 2 at the same time?"
She asked him. A bit stunnned he sighs in relief.
"I mean Ms.Yaln did keep hinting that we could make multiple Polys but I just misunderstood it…"
He said shyly looking down to avoid her direct gaze.
"That doesn't change that you still did it, so how?"
She asked getting closer. Rhys looked away and backed away.
"I just made it work and besides how do you know my name? I never told you"
In fact he hadn't told anyone he thought slowly before Kulia sighs and lets him back off.
"I mean who wouldn't know the child prodigy of Fedora.."
She said with a bit disdain before looking at him closer "You look pretty cute too, what classes do you have?" She asks with a smile before a light blush comes over his cheeks and he just hands her his schedule.
"Great, the only class I don't have with you is history" her eyes scanning through his schedule before giving it back and walking ahead her smile still prominent. "Come on 'Mr.Prodigy'" she says smirking. Rhys follows.
Mom I'm I don't think this is how friends are made…
He thought as they tread through the croweded halls "Aww look at the two freshmen~" a girl whispered. Rhys cursed inwardly, he may not have been the most social person but he knew enough how rumors could work.
"Stop it or he might burn you too to a crisp" someone else snickered while Rhys bite his tongue. His mind already replaying the desolate garden again, before looking to Kulia walking beside him. "Do you not care?"
He blurted for once without thinking.
"I mean…" she slowed down but quickly picked up her pace. "I'm only trying to figure out how you made two polys at the same time so I don't necessarily care what you do at the moment."
She said but their was obviously something else on her mind, Rhys refused to acknowledge. The both walked for a couple more seconds before they both went into their next class the Attribute class. Rhys sat in the back while Kulia followed. "Your pretty weird.." she said propong her head up on the table with her arm looking at Rhys.
"You want friends, but act so shy"
Rhys embarrassed at Kulia's comment realizing she probably heard his confession to the two boys. "Hmm" Rhys hummed his head under his arms as he laid his arms down before looking back up at their professor but couldn't take his eyes off Kulia for a moment as he watches the professor set down a thick book
almost as thick as-
Rhys stoped his thought.
"Alright listen you little stains address me as Mr.Polm. This is where you figure out your attributes we won't be spending much time in this room too." He said before drawing on the board elements and their respective symbols. Fire, water, ice, earth, those are the basic elements " since this is a 1A class you should've figured it out being that your here." He says before opening the door takinging them to a large room gravel across the floor with some targets wearing armor. "Find a target and just mess around with your element for a bit to get used to it, that's all for you first assignment."
I hate trick questions
He thought before looking into Mr.Polm seeing his Polys a bit confused. They were extremely small shaped as coins he had around 4 of these but what really confused him was that they were spinning around a more bigger coin as he summoned a lawn chair of earth rising beneath him.
Revolving…
Rhys with his own intuition tried to make the spheres within him spin. It worked but it took more effort then him actually condensing the 2 polys. He left it alone and returned to reality. Kulia was looking at him waving her hand in front of his face. "Hello? You alive Fedora?" She said before he gently slapped her hand away.
"Yes yes I'm just thinking"
Kulia rolls her eyes most of the boys looking at Rhys with hidden envy. Rhys walked to a target and looked around seeing the numerous uncontrolled makeshift spells.
Technically no one should know any real spells yet. We're just forcing natural mana to change.
The difference between a spell and using natural mana was night and day in efficiency.
He burned the dummy in front of him light burns and scorches appearing in the armor. He watches the flames in awe, forgetting the garden he for so long regretted. The only times this happened was when he used his magic. Due to him having some experience with it he didn't need a physical object to help project his willed mana. Rhys as he kept the continuous flames he looked inward again frustrated, like going to a gourmet restaurant and only settling for Mac and cheese. Frustrated he tried to use his poly. His poly just sat in him like a lazy cat. Looking around him he say the same thing, even Kulia didn't wasn't using her.
Why
He asked himself before looking back to Mr.Polm. What he was doing with his eyes wasn't special anyone could do it it just took time and practice but obviously you can't see into the mana system of a person multiple levels ahead you because if if they shape their poly they can block one's view, but he could.
Do you need multiple?
He recalled Ms.Yuln's subtle hints. He then try to copy Mr.Polm's setup. He moved one of the polys in the center of his sternum and compressed the other. Surprised by how effortless it was to do so he compressed his poly until it was comparable to Ms.Yuln's he then tried to make it revolve the other. In amazement Mr.Polm watch Rhys experiment. In a matter of seconds as it slowly revolved the other until the small poly went back into its size before.
Rhys growingnmore frustrated the dummy being lit up in flames only grew more abundant scorches.
He can't revolve the 2 polys with how their size was now it would poke of his chest, so he brought them both out of his body as they floated just above his open hand. They revolved slowly before a small smile grew on his lips as he felt the mana in the polys drained rapidly. It didn't mattered if they depleted he could always condense another but he figured out the logic behind it.
The revolving motion, that should be in his body, stimulated the natural mana in his body to either move inwards to or repel. The natural mana acted like a insulator, not letting his own mana to escape his poly. The raging flames on the dummy died down to burn a lot less but the two polys dissipating as he's used all the mana in it.
Another problem. There's has to be a way to passively draw in mana better, but later…
as the two revolving polys faded away being depleted. He glanced at Kulia seeing her poly take a shape of a star the shape didn't compress though the change he was still amazed.
*** 30 minutes withered
Rhys just spent it all condensing another poly this time only one while using the latent mana in the air to burn the dummy in small bursts.
He looked at Kulia again this time shocked. The star was spinning not as fast as Rhys' but it still spun sending drawing in natural mana and letting the mana in her poly to be used.
Watching he walked up to Kulia who was raining down ice spikes onto the dummy.
"Hey, Kulia" he said patting her shoulder, she turns to him. "What can't you see I'm busy?" She said a bit annoyed but it quickly faded away. "What made you think of rotating your poly?" He asked, she can't see Mr.Polm mana system so where else did she receive this revelation. "Well of course half the class did witness you palming those two big balls in your hand rotating them" she said smirking at her own choice of words. Rhys sighed a bit embarrassed forgetting people are around. "but to be honest it just felt more natural because, at first I thought to move my poly through my whole body to repel the natural mana but that's too cumbersome just to use it so I just ended up spinning it" she said more serious. Rhys nodded a bit interested in her process.
Moving it through her whole body…
Rhys couldn't blame her for changing she wasn't as used to using mana. Most child mages only start at least 16 while he was 15.
Rhys tried to compress his poly again holding it with more vigor letting go of the other one as he compressed it to again match Ms.Yuln, he made it follow a path through his body. His head arm torso leg torso leg arm back to head. Though it was slow right now the effect could be exponential if he had more polys.
Sure the poly drained twice as fast as he burned his dummy-
"Hey!" Kulia stood infront of him her finger pointing at between his eyes. "You can't just ask me how I did something to copy it! Even if your cute" she added before smirking "of course I'll let it go if you promise to eat lunch with me"
***Only moments
Rhys felt like he made a deal with the devil as he promised and she went back to pummeling the dummy many more icicles shattering and some even threatening to pierce it as she did it all with the same smirk.
She's weird
He added as he let go of his compressed poly it didn't return to its normal size but this time slightly bigger then a baseball. Rhys grinned inwardly at this. Mr Polm could only click his tongue at the two geniuses. Out of the rest of the students was another that stood out to Polm. She carried two attributes, earth, and wind granted she couldn't damage the dummy she was still special case too, Olivia was dressed like commoner.
