✽✽ Adrian's Perspective ✽✽
I, the Prince of Montclair, Adrian Alistair Montclair, was a busy man. Every day was a war for me, who was secretly plotting to run away from my duties.
"Damn that shitty butler," I grumbled but continued writing with great accuracy and efficiency, using my pen.
Although reluctant, I still had the responsibility to deal with these bullshits. After all, I had not always been a prince. An unknown power had brought me to my current situation. Some unfortunate accident had claimed my life, and before I knew it, I found myself in the body of a stranger—a prince at that.
"Damn it, I should've transmigrated into the body of some commoner or even a backwater noble. I want a laid-back life! Not a hellish black company lifestyle!"
As I read through the documents, I suddenly thought aloud, "This pen sure is handy," I smiled sarcasticly, "This beautiful piece of shit would really get popular in my old world. I mean, look at this baby—it practically has infinite ink."
As I worked at my table, I was interrupted by a knock on the door. My loyal attendant, James, entered with an elegant gesture and respectful bow. "Your Highness—"
"Stop right there, you shitty butler, trying to add some 'fun' to my table again?" I cut in.
James raised an eyebrow but calmly replied, "No, Your Highness, I'm not here to add some 'fun'," with a hint of sarcasm in his words.
I sighed, feeling relieved. "Don't scare me like that, James. So what's your agenda here?"
"Your Highness, a letter has arrived." James picked up a letter from his breast pocket. "It's from—"
"Another gala invitation? Again? Like I said before, how many of these shits do we really need?" I groaned pathetically.
James awkwardly smiled. "No, sir. The letter was given by..."
"Who the hell in the world sent that fucking letter? I'm a busy man, you know?" I replied, an act not suitable to my status.
"It's from Her Royal Majesty," James finally finished.
"From Mother? What for? Let me guess, she wants me to attend some noble's party?"
James agreed, "Yes, Your Highness. However, it's not just that simple. Her Majesty, the Queen, wants you to host the party personally."
I forced a princely smile and replied, "Not a chance. I'd rather do all the 'fun' here in my office."
"That smile will not help you get out of this situation, my prince," James said, putting an elegant smile on his face, similar to me, his master.
The servant continued, "Her Majesty, the queen wants you, Your Highness, the prince to host a royal ball during the festival of Panathenaia incoming this month."
I sharply responded, "Tell mother, Her Majesty that I humbly refuse" I continued, shrugged my hands, "Tell the Queen that I have my own duties to attend to."
Of course, deep down, I was actually afraid of facing my mother's wrath if I refused, but as a prince, as a person, and a man, I had my own dignity to save.
James smoothly suggested, "Your Highness, In my humble opinion, you should accept the Queen's request."
"What do you mean?" I raised an eyebrow. I questioned James, I'm bewildered by my attendant's sudden change in attitude.
James thought, "Got you," and replied, "Her Majesty said that if the party you host is successful, she will grant you permission to take two weeks off." He looked at me, his eyes saying, "You want a day off, don't you?"
My 'bloodshot' eyes widened in shock, "Two week! Two whole f*cking weeks?!" I exclaimed.
With this change of heart, I cleared my throat. "Very well, I shall do it. In the name of the royal family, I will make this royal party a success!"
I excitedly declared, "What are you waiting for, James? Let's go! We'll make this event a success!" My enthusiasm was uncharacteristically exuberant as I made a 180-degree turn.
James seem disgusted by my sudden change of heart. It's just my imagination right?
"Don't look at me like some kind of bug!" I shouted.
"Perished the thought, Your Highness." James smiled, with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He sighed, "Yes, my prince. As a loyal servant of the royal family, I will accompany you on this quest."
As we made our exit, we continued our discussion on how to ensure the party's success and decided on their next course of action.
A/N: Panathenaia. It was a festival to celebrate Athena's birthday and was celebrated by all Athenians and resident foreigners. The festival lasted 8 days and each day had a different event.
