Whenever he visualized himself as a practicing physician he imagined the surgeries, the ER adrenaline, the babies he would help arrive into the world, everything but this hell he was living in. On January 2020 they had their first officially diagnosed COVID-19 patient, by March every hospital of the world was working at full capacity, the bodies kept piling and friends, family even coworkers started to drop as flies, the virus was unforgiving and unrelenting, even he fell victim, they were on the third wave, hundreds of people didn't believe in it, or they were tired of hiding in their houses after such a long time, very few of those who had to come out of their houses needed the money. By the time he fell ill he was already aware of the progression of the disease, but still he clung to the hope that everything would be fine, as a young man with no smoking history, a relatively good lifestyle and no other diseases he was almost certain this would only be a really bad cold, how wrong he was. By the time he realized the severity of hid symptoms it was too late. There was so much he never got to experience, regret was a bitter sentiment and frustration was even worse, when living in disagreement with past decision at least one could say they did something but he felt like a bird whose wings were clipped too soon, he barely got the taste of what life could be like.
Yuze had never had a close relationship with another person, be it romantic or platonic, he was an introvert thru and thru, he never deviated from the path his parents had set him on, and that's what hurts the most, he never got to live for himself. His death brought inspiration for the youth hoping to become a physician, he became a hero, an exemplary professional and a statistic.
Drip, Drip.
Who left the faucet open?
Interns these days... why can't I ever get a little bit of rest? I should've chosen dermatology instead.
He paused.
Shouldn't I be in the ICU? I was sure I almost died. Did I die?
Yuze looked around the bad lighted room, he found a half burned candle and lighted it up, there was an individual mattress on the floor, where he woke up.
As soon as he stepped out of the mattress he got a dizzy spell, took a second to notice an acute ache in his neck, legs and the paleness on his skin.
What the? Did I get kidnapped?
He searched thoroughly and found no signs of losing a kidney or other vital organ. As he touched his face he noticed the differences between his original body and the current one, he used to have a scar in his left forearm from cooking, he used to have long black hair, now it was blond and shoulder length, still a bit long for western standards, and the most weird detail out of all, he had wings, six to be exact, semi-transparent and barely movable wings.
Oh dear God, please dont tell this is what I think it is.
He had read some light novels during his toughest year at the hospital to pass time, transmigration and regression wasn't a new concept for him, but as long as he remembered most of this stories has a ''system'' or some sort of mission. So far there was no indication of said system.
The first thing is getting out of this place alive, getting myself back to full health and I'll see what I can do latter. Everything can wait until I'm safe.
So far he hadn't encounter an enemy, but from the condition he was in it was obvious to infer he had be abused for some time, he had no memories of the original body so determining the current situation and acting accordingly sounded the most logical way to look for an escape. Despite being in a small room with no light and with several injuries taking a rest was so tempting, he wouldn't solve anything right now, better wait and observe.
Yuze took a 4 hour nap that felt more like 4 minutes, before he heard heavy footsteps coming closer.
''Wake up, time to work little imp''
Before he could get himself out of bed he was forced to the ground, ankles and wrists shackled. The guard guided him thru a very confusing set of hallways, left, right, left, left, a set of steps and left again. The walls were full of obscene scenes or gore pictures, not comforting at all. The whole place smelled of metal and incense,
Is this a whore house?
He felt a chill run down his spine. As he got closer to his destination he could hear laughter, music, and other explicit sounds, so embarrassing and terrifying. As a 27 year old virgin this was a complete nightmare.
The door opened and it was just like he imagined it, multiple people dressed the way he was, flimsy clothed with bright colored dresses, all adorned with golden shackles and sat at the feet of pale, tall mostly black haired men and women. He was pushed to one of those imposing gentleman.
''Here he is Sir Kesek, he is the sweetest male fae we have, he has recently become our gold star, once you taste him you'll have to take care not to leave him empty, I'm sure out host told you specifically that if you go too far the price for drinking too much is about half a year worth of your membership and he is about triple the price of it. ''
The powerful man looked at him up and down, analyzing him.
''I'm aware he is the best pet you have, I've waited for him more than a year, I won't leave him dry...yet''
He flicked his wrist dismissing the guard. His gaze graced upon Yuze, he took his hand and guided him to the pillow on his feet, the little fae instinctively got on his knees and put his head down, this was an obvious power display.
''My little one, you had me waiting for a long time, I almost can't wait to taste you, your are even more beautiful than they said.''
He whispered in his ear, and caressed his neck gently, leaving a disgusting sensation on his skin. Yuze tried to struggle but the shackles were connected between them and the grip on his neck got tighter, he was already weak from before and couldn't get himself off of him. As soon as he saw the fangs he almost fainted, the vampire licked his neck and without much contemplation bit him, the pain was instantly replaced with a frightening sense of euphoria, he stopped struggling and got closer to his aggressor, every sip of blood that was taken out felt like losing a piece of sanity. It was almost like a drug, he has heard of testimonies from opioid users and he felt that this was really similar to what they described it as.
''Damn it, the last thing he needed right now was getting hooked on whatever that was.''
He could feel the room turning a few degrees colder, he could guess it was the blood loss, the edges of his vision turned black and just as he felt himself slipping away it ended. He could hear the vampire on top of him telling him something, but his hearing had dimmed too. He probably praised him, as he rested his head on the man's lap he played with his hair. He was so sleepy, but Yuze forced himself to keep awake, the room was an amphitheater, in the middle of it were four tall figures, barely discernible speaking of the good old times and how they were to win all those good things back. Yuze almost laugh, even in a fantasy world like this there were political rallies.
