Chapter 32 - End Goal?

"I-Impossible... I couldn't even follow his movements, Jin and Dan were both mages far above him! So what the hell just happened?" He thought.

"Grr! Die!" He bellowed loudly as he joined his two hands together.

"Transmutation Magic: Soldiers Of The Wild!"

Using his transmutation magic, he transmutated the shattered pieces of the golem into numerous wild cats and even a bear. Renji moved towards him slowly with his sight fixated on only him.

The wild beasts all rushed at Renji but the instant they got close to him, they were blown into smaller pieces of rocks by the wind pressure he released from his body.

"What!?" Nicholas couldn't comprehend what was happening but one thing was clear to him, he'd be dead if he stayed any longer.

He ran away swiftly as his numerous transmutated beasts distracted Renji.

"There's no way he's this powerful! There's no way! Is this the same Renji we once knew!?" He questioned within his thoughts.

When Renji first transmigrated into this body he was just an average mage although a bit stronger than the previous inhabitant, however as he continuously levelled up he trespassed through the boundaries of an S-class mage.

After fighting and defeating the Imperial Dragon and Reo, he levelled up and became an S-class Mage.

"You taught him how to control his magic, used him for your evil agendas and gave him hope, then you crushed that hope and left him to die." Renji said in a deep and disheartening voice as he disappeared from where he stood.

As Nicholas covered a few distance, his eyes widened in fear as Renji appeared right in his field of vision with his right hand slowly approaching his face.

"Repent of your sins in the pit of hell."

He spoke softly as high pressured wind energy circulated his right hand.

"Wind Magic..."

He uttered softly as he grabbed Nicholas's forehead with his hand.

"Wind Cannon."

He slammed him into the ground before releasing a powerful [Wind Cannon] from his hand which drove the body of Nicholas further through the ground, crushing every bone in his body. At the end, his dead body laid at the bottom of a 10ft deep crater.

[Enemies slain: 3/3]

[You have slain all enemies!]

[Level Up!]

As he stared at the notifications that popped up, he smiled softly as he looked up into the sky." Now his soul can finally rest in peace." He said referring to the previous Renji Storm.

Returning back to reality, he ran forward immediately in pursuit of the remaining three mages.

..

"H-He's a monster!" One of three mages that pursued the carriage exclaimed as he watched Haru take down one of his companions in a flash. Haru's beast magic allowed him to take on the strength and speed of every beast he had come across. In other words his body's densile strength surpassed that of a human.

"Beast Magic: Sonic Roar!"

From his mouth, he released a blast of concentric circles or jagged lines representing the force and reach of the sound waves of a canary. The lines grew wider and more distorted as it raced quickly towards the two thieves.

They both wailed in pain and agony as they felt their eardrums being slowly torn apart by the sound waves of Haru's sonic roar. Soon enough they fell unconscious.

"That takes care of that."

At that moment, Renji arrived through the tree tops and jumped down from it's branches towards Haru.

"Not bad, not bad at all." He said with a gleeful smirk as he observed the unconscious bodies of Nicholas companions.

"Damn it all, for you to be here this quickly means you took them down instantly. Damn it all!" He had just declared Renji his rival and he was already losing.

"I won't lose again! First to reach the carriage wins!"

"You're on!"

Simultaneously, they both raced after the carriage.

As they left the three bodies behind and raced after the carriage, a shadow figure of a man emerged from the trees. He completely concealed his presence and not even Renji could sense him, one thing was for certain.

This man was no normal mage.

He approached the unconscious men that Haru had taken out and examined them thoroughly.

"A magic guild huh? Seems like this charade just got a little more interesting." He walked away through the opposite side of the forest with a menacing glee.

"Renji Storm huh"

..

Haru and Renji had already arrived at the carriage and mounted right on it's roof, luckily for Amelia they had already crossed the borders of the Fiol Kingdom so any more attacks from the Phantoms Pact would be considered as an act of war against the Nile kingdom.

"Glad that's over, and I was just beginning to have fun." Haru said with a hint of disappointment behind his voice.

"Yeah..."

Ever since he got most of the memories belonging to the previous inhabitant back, a faint feeling of unease dawned over him.

"What's wrong?" It wasn't hard for Haru to notice the puzzled expression he had.

"I don't know, my memories are still fuzzy but from what I can remember, yes there are a lot of casualties anytime the Pact is involved. But their end goal was always to steal what they came from." His memories were still fuzzy but he could remember vividly most of the missions he was involved him always included a jewel to steal.

Even back when he first transmigrated, rumors about an ancient treasure located deep in the Kurogawa village led the Phantoms Pact to the village.

"Yeah, now that I think about it stealing prized artifacts has always been the end goal for the Pact so they could sell it off for huge amounts of money." Haru said as he as well realized something obscure was brewing behind the scenes.

"Yet those guys were ordered to kill Amelia, it's just not their style to kill someone who could be undoubtedly profitable to them."

"Ambition's change overtime, kill or steal no matter where those guys go chaos and death always follows. There's only one thing we can do regardless of their goals, put them down once and for all." Haru proclaimed as they both reached a conclusion.

With a nod of affirmation, they both climbed into the carriage through the windows. Amelia passed out with her head laid on Hinata's lap, the pressure was just too much for her.

"How is she?" Renji asked as both him and Haru stood right in front of them with the assumption that she was hit by a surprise attack.

"She'll be fine, she just went into shock and fell unconscious after that stunt the Pact pulled on her." She channeled her water magic into her hands and placed them at the sides of Amelia's head.

Hinata possessing water magic placed her as a balanced type mage, she provided support such as healing capabilities and she also had combat capabilities. However her lack of experience and training in both types rendered her an average or if possible, a less than average mage.

"For a mage she's kinda pathetic, but who can blame her. With the kind of overprotective father she has I'm surprised she hasn't left him." Haru said with a soft sigh, it was favourable to them in a sense that she was unconscious.

"We have a much bigger problem on our hands." Renji spoke as he stared out the window, keeping watch just in case they were still being tailed.

"What problem?"

"The Pact are trying to kill Amelia and we need to find out why." Haru replied.

"What? Kill her? For what purpose?" She had so many questions that they obviously didn't have the answer to.

"We don't know, but this has evolved beyond the quest. Even if we managed to protect her till she gets back, there's no guarantee that she'll be safe." Renji spoke aloud a bit as he felt concerned for her, he didn't want her to be another victim of the Phantom Pact.

"All said and done, the only thing we can do now is to proceed with the quest and stay by her side till we get to the bottom of this." With a nod of affirmation, they all contemplated several measures they could take to protect her.
