"…what are you and where am I?" Damien tried to get up from the ground, he placed his hands on the hard surface and tried to push himself off the ground, however, he couldn't even move an inch before he flopped back on the ground.
[Requesting the host to not move, the system is detecting serious damage to the body of the host.]
As the body which had gone numb due to pain slowly started to recover, Damien also noticed that there was something wrong with his body.
A sharp, burning pain which got stronger with each second started to spread all over his abdomen.
"Shit," Damien groaned as the wave of pain finally hit him with full impact.
[Asking the host for permission to collect accessible information.]
"Granted…permission granted!" Damien gritted his teeth. He had no idea what was happening to him but if he was given another chance to survive, then he did not want to die!
This time around, he was going to survive till the end.
[Accessing the condition of the host.]
[…][…]
[Examination completed please take a look.]
Before Damien could ask what was going on, another screen popped in front of him.
This screen however did not display any words on it, instead, it showed him an X-ray along with other reports.
"Damn, are you serious? No, you have to be kidding me. There is no way——" After Damien finished reading his reports, he was so shocked that he sat up straight. "Ugh…"
He looked down at his abdomen and his condition was indeed similar to the content displayed on the blue screen.
There was a large gash on his abdomen which ran so deep that his intestines were almost hanging out even the blood on the ground was not a joking matter.
Damien looked at his horrifying wound and two seconds later he burst out laughing. His laughter however held no humour.
"Dear God! If you were going to kill me anyway then just do it in one go, what are you trying to do by killing me twice?"
[The system has detected an upheaval of emotions.]
[The system requests the host to remain calm.]
"Easy for you to say, it is not you who has to die twice," Damien flopped back on the ground, since he was going to die anyway, he did not want to waste his energy.
If he was at the hospital he could have at least had access to tools, now that he was lying in the middle of nowhere, how was he even going to get out of this situation?
He needed serious medical help which included blood transfusion, and closing of the wound.
'Fortunately, the large intestine was not cut or else the faeces would have spread all over the abdominal cavity,' thought Damien with a sigh. At least his death wouldn't be that painful.
[Host, aren't you giving up too soon? ]
Damien felt a nerve twitch in his forehead as he rolled his eyes and snapped hoarsely, "What do you know? Without necessary medical tools, do you think that I can survive?"
[Who said that you do not have the necessary tools?]
"What?"
Whoosh.
Another screen appeared in front of Damien. This screen was different from the first two, it was larger than his face and held the images of medical equipment and books.
The top of the screen was colourful and the equipment inside the small cubes were moving in circles as if they were being rotated on a platform. While from the second row onwards, the equipment was covered in black.
"These must be inaccessible," Damien muttered, his eyes fixated on the pieces of equipment that were yet to be unlocked. It reminded him of the gaming interface which he once played.
However, Damien did not ponder on the inaccessibility of the rest of the equipment, instead, he raised his hand and tapped on the scalpel, anaesthesia, needle and thread along with local sanitiser.
The blood transfusion system was yet to be unlocked but Damien had no time to moan over it.
He pushed his body up with difficulty, once he was sitting upright, he cleaned his hands before administering the anaesthesia.
"Ugh," Damien closed his eyes as the sting of the needle felt even more painful on the tender skin that had been slashed and cut in places.
Once the anaesthesia was administered, Damien waited for it to take effect which did not take long.
Sensing the numbing sensation on his lower half, Damien picked up the scalpel, "Here goes nothing."
With his deft hands, he cleaned the rotten flesh on the wound that had been festering for days before cleaning the blood that oozed out of the newly made cuts.
His gaze regretfully fell on the tranexamic acid that was locked and inaccessible before he returned his focus to his wound.
"Alright, let us finish this up," once the rotten flesh was taken care of, Damien sewed the wound with a needle and a thread.
His hand moved in a flawless motion before coming to a stop as he snapped the thread off with the scalpel itself.
"Thank god," Damien heaved a sigh of relief when he noticed that blood had stopped flowing out of the wound. Even though it was not a perfect surgery, Damien was not complaining as this was enough to keep his life.
[The host has successfully saved a life. Life saving grace +1]
[Does the host want to use instant treatment to heal the wound in one go?]
Damien: "…."
"Couldn't you have handed this special reward to me a few seconds ago?" Damien questioned the so-called system with his hands stretched out in front.
[System doesn't understand the meaning of the host's words. Please repeat it in simple terms.]
"You little—-" Damien closed his eyes and then breathed out before suppressing his anger. He then changed his question before saying, "Why did you even ask me to treat myself if you could have done it without me picking up the scalpel?"
[Dan exists to make Damien Huston a legendary doctor.]
"What…thats not——"
[Didn't the host wish to become the world's best doctor before he was asked to create Dan?]
"That…" Damien furrowed his brows before saying, "I wanted to become one but I don't think I want to continue anymore…."
He was killed because his skills surpassed his senior. Why would he walk down the same path after knowing what dangers lurked ahead?
[…Then let's use the data collected from the host. The system will motivate you by showing the appearance of Damien Huston who wanted to become a doctor desperately.]
"No! Wait!" Not his dark history!
"HAHAHHA!"
