Andrew's POV
I watched the drama unfold between my dad's girlfriend and her daughter, surprisingly. And I was befuddled.
Even though, my mom died when I was a toddler, and I didn't have much rapport with her, I knew fully well that a mother to daughter's relationship shouldn't be that strained.
I could notice the disgust the mother had on her face, for her daughter.
I wondered what could have happened between the duo to make them like that.
"Andrew darling, do you not like the food?" I heard Selena said to me.
"Do you need me to get you anything else? You don't have to force yourself to eat the food, if you don't like it, you know, dear?" She asked, further. She was all smiles as she talked to me and I cringed inwardly in disgust.
Why then was she being like that to her own daughter when you could actually act like a sweet mother.
"Why?" I blurted out.
"Why? Oh, you mean why I am asking you if you would like anything else? My dear, It is because I understand you might not like the food and that is just natural. I can't force my favorite food on you. I am actually sorry for preparing this without trying to check whether you would like it or not ..." She had stated apologetically but my dad butt in.
"No, darling. You don't have to be sorry. I love the food. Your favorite is going to become mine, so don't worry about it. If the kids don't like it, I will gladly eat it with you." My dad told her, lovingly.
I scoffed. I couldn't deal.
"Darling, I should be sorry. I was trying to impress your son but It seems I failed woefully ..." She pointed out and looked at me, still smiling sweetly.
I knew she could notice the scowl on my face but she decided to act like she wasn't seeing that and kept smiling at me.
Such a pretender! As if she hadn't just shown her true colors towards her daughter, in my presence, just few seconds ago.
"You don't have to impress me. I would have advised you to try on impressing your daughter first, but I know you don't seem like the kind who would listen to such advice, so I am going to save myself the stress!" I told her firmly and stood up.
Selena's smile fell and I loved to see that. She shouldn't keep up the pretentious smile before me.
"Son, what is that about?" My dad faced me, with a frown.
"Nothing, dad. I am just being truthful here. Off to bed, you two should enjoy the rest of the evening." I stated and walked away.
I heard my dad huffed in annoyance but he didn't bother to talk to me, anymore. Rather, he started apologizing to his girlfriend.
"Let me apologize on his behalf. I am sorry but I promise you, he is not always like that. I think he is edgy having new people around for the first time in what felt like forever. It has always been him and I. " I heard him say to his girlfriend who was probably shaking her head as she insisted she wasn't mad at my behavior.
"No, there is no need for any apology. I totally understand. I am fine." She replied him.
I didn't look back. I rolled my eyes and kept walking away.
I had gone out of the kitchen before I remembered something and went back in there.
I didn't try to make a meaning out of what I was doing. I just let my heart did whatever it wanted. I grabbed a big apple from the fridge with a bottle of water and headed upstairs.
Few seconds later, I found myself knocking on Jade's door.
Who would have thought I would be doing that?
"Yeah, I am really doing this!" I mused to myself and shook my head. That was to convince myself that I was doing the right thing and not just walk back into my room.
I knocked on the door for the second time before I heard footsteps approaching the door, from inside.
She yanked the door open and had a surprised look on her face as she saw I was the one who was waiting for her, outside.
She actually just peered at me for a second before clearing her throat to speak up. And I didn't know why I was quiet too, maybe I was too engrossed, looking at her round, beautiful eyes.
"What can I do for you?" She asked me. I had opened my mouth to talk but she beat me to it.
"Don't tell me you are here for your clothes, please! As you can see, I am still wearing them because my luggage hasn't come up yet. I mean, you have enough clothes, don't you? Since I am already wearing these, why don't you just let go of them? I am not saying I won't wash and return them, I am just saying I still need them. What's the big d ..." She was saying with one feminine attitude, that I found really amusing.
I chuckled. She stopped and looked at me in surprise.
"Sorry. But you sounded funny there!" I told her and she narrowed her round eyes on me.
"Anyway, I am not here for the clothes. Take these. I figured you might need to have a bite." I said to her and handed out the apple and water to her.
She was hesitant to collect them from me. She was just looking at me in doubt. I knew what she was thinking. She was definitely shocked that I was offering her food after chastising her for making use of my clothes.
I nodded at her to let her know it was okay, and only then did she reluctantly collect the fruit and water from me.
"Thank you." She muttered, gratefully.
"You are welcome." I said to her.
I knew I was supposed to take my leave after but I didn't know why my legs stay rooted to the spot, and refused to go.
What I said next, surprised both she and I.
"If you need anything else, you can let me know." I told her.
She looked up at me, totally surprised. After recovering from the surprise, she smiled at me.
"Thank you. It means a lot to me, to hear that from you." She told me and then hurried inside her room, as if she had suddenly become shy.
I chuckled at the cute reaction as I walked back to my room.
"That means a lot to her? I wonder why!" I said to myself and got into bed, then began to use my computer. I needed to do some works on it.
Few moments later, I had buried my head deep in the work.

Jade's POV
As I hurried into my room, I kept looking at the apple and water, Andrew had brought for me.
That little gesture of his, lit up my gloomy mood and my eyes shoned, brightly.
I had hurried inside before I would make a fool out of myself, before my crush. I was so over the moon, receiving such gesture from him.
"Andrew thought to bring food for me? And I thought he was enjoying himself, watching me getting embarrassed by my mom." I stated, regrettably.
"This is very kind of him, I must say." I smiled warmly at the apple.
"How things change! Just last week at school, he was someone who didn't even notice my existence, while I noticed his every movements. And this week, we are in the same house whereby he is even bringing food for me! Wow ..." I said to myself as I smiled at the apple.
I didn't think I would be eating that apple. I needed to keep looking at it so I could keep smiling.
Silly, but I didn't care. That was what love did to me.
I dropped the bottle of water on the drawer beside the bed and got into the bed with the apple in my hands.
As I laid in bed, I remembered that the following day was Monday and that meant school.
I would have to face Andrew at school...
That thought made me jump out of bed.
"Nobody must know I am now living at his house, or else, the jealous bitches running after him would pull my hair out." I said, panickingly and shuddered.
