Chapter 2: "Aftermath"
Ruby stumbled into her apartment, still trying to process the events of the previous night. She felt a mix of emotions: guilt, shame, and a hint of excitement. She couldn't believe she'd given in to her desires so easily, especially with a stranger.
As she showered and changed, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change forever. She thought about Liam, wondering if she'd ever see him again I don't even know who he his ,I slept with a stranger
Just as she was starting to calm down, her phone rang. It was her father.
"Ruby, we need to talk," he said, his voice stern.
Ruby's heart sank. She knew that tone all too well.
"What's up, Dad?" she asked, trying to sound casual.
"It's about your behavior last night," he replied. "I got a call from one of the festival organizers. They said you were...unseemly. That you were dancing on stage with some...some musician."
Ruby rolled her eyes. Here we go again.
"Dad, I can explain—"
"No, Ruby, you can't," her stepmom, Victoria, chimed in. "We're extremely disappointed in you. You're a reflection of our family, and this behavior will not be tolerated."
Ruby felt a surge of anger. Why did they always assume the worst about her?
"You don't even know what happened," Ruby shot back. "And even if you did, it's none of your business."
"We'll be discussing this further when we see you," her father said, his voice cold.
Ruby hung up the phone, feeling frustrated and trapped. Why couldn't they leave her alone
Ruby arrived at her father's mansion, feeling a mix of emotions. She knew she was in for a lecture, but she was determined to stand her ground.
As she entered the living room, her father and stepmom were already seated, looking stern.
"So, Ruby, we need to discuss your behavior," her father began.
"I know, I know," Ruby interrupted. "I'm a disappointment, blah blah blah."and if I can remember ma who are you to correct me she asked but Victoria ignored her acting innocent in front of Ruby father.
"Ruby, this is serious," Victoria said, her voice dripping with
mocker ,your junior sister is managing the company but u what can you do with your life "You're 24 years old, and it's time you start acting like an adult."
"Meaning what?" Ruby asked, her anger rising.
"Meaning you need to settle down, find a respectable job, and stop this...this..." Victoria waved her hand dismissively. "Music festival nonsense."
Ruby laughed. "You have no idea what you're talking about."
"We know exactly what we're talking about," her father said, his voice firm. "And we won't tolerate this behavior anymore. You need to shape up, Ruby."
Ruby stood up, her heart racing. "I don't need to do anything I don't want to do. And I certainly don't need your approval."
"Fine," her father said, his face red. "If that's how you want to play it, then maybe you shouldn't come crawling back to us when you need help."
Ruby smiled sweetly. "Don't worry, Dad. I won't."
And with that, she turned and walked out, leaving her father and stepmom staring after her in shock.
