Chapter 7 - DARKNESS

The Shadow Lord's expression turned serious, his eyes gleaming with a knowing intensity. "Leon, you have passed the Trial of Endurance, but do not think that this is the end of your journey. It is merely the beginning. You have shown great potential, but the potential is nothing without rest and reflection."

He gestured to a door on the opposite side of the room, which slid open with a soft creak. "Go, Leon. Rest and meditate on your experience. You have much to process and understand."

I nodded, feeling a mix of relief and exhaustion. "Thank you, Shadow Lord. I won't disappoint you."

The Shadow Lord's expression softened slightly, his voice taking on a hint of warmth. "I do not doubt that you will exceed my expectations, Leon. But remember, the greatest enemy is not the one outside, but the one within. Continue to confront and embrace your inner demons, and you will become a true master of the shadows."

I bowed my head in respect, then turned to make my way to the door. As I reached it, I turned back to face the Shadow Lord.

"Shadow Lord, what lies ahead? What can I expect from my training?"

The Shadow Lord's expression turned enigmatic, his eyes glinting with a hint of mystery. "Your training will be tailored to your unique abilities and strengths, Leon. But be warned, the path of the Shadow Guide is not an easy one. You will face challenges that will test your limits, your courage, and your wits. You must be prepared to adapt, to innovate, and to overcome."

I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. "I'm ready, Shadow Lord. I won't back down."

The Shadow Lord's expression turned serious once more. "I expect nothing less, Leon. Now go, rest and prepare yourself for what lies ahead."

With that, I left the Shadow Lord's presence and walked to my room on my way I saw senior Qīnq and I greeted her.

"Senior Qīnq, Good evening Senior" I greeted as I bowed my head.

"How are you doing" she said.

"Am doing great and you? I asked.

"Am fine as you can see, how was your training with Shadow Lord?" she asked in concern.

"It was great I was just dismissed and am now heading to my room" I said looking very tired.

"Okay I will check up on you I have something important to handle," she said walking out on me.

As Senior Qīnq walked away, I couldn't help but notice the fluidity of her movements. Her feet seemed to glide across the floor, making barely a sound as she disappeared into the shadows. Her footsteps were light and deliberate, like a cat prowling through the night. I watched in awe as she moved with quiet confidence, her long black hair swaying gently behind her like a dark waterfall.

Her slender figure seemed to blend into the surroundings, becoming one with the shadows themselves. It was as if she were a part of the very darkness, moving through it with an uncanny ease.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that Senior Qīnq was more than just a skilled warrior - she was a master of stealth and deception.

As I stood there, frozen in admiration, I noticed the subtle sound of her breathing, the soft rustle of her clothes, and the faint scent of incense wafting from her direction. It was as if my senses had been heightened, allowing me to perceive the world around me in a new and intense way.

I watched until she vanished from sight, leaving me feeling both inspired and intimidated. I knew that I had a long way to go before I could match her level of skill and mastery. With a newfound sense of determination, I turned and continued on my way to my room.

As I entered my room, I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me. The Trial of Endurance had taken its toll, and I was eager to rest and recharge. I began by stripping off my worn and sweat-stained clothes, revealing the bruises and scratches that covered my body.

I made my way to the bathing chamber, where a warm bath was already prepared for me. The water was fragrant with the scent of lavender and chamomile, and I couldn't wait to soak my weary muscles. I sank into the water, feeling it envelop me like a warm embrace.

As I bathed, I closed my eyes and let my mind drift back to the events of the day. I replayed the Trial of Endurance in my head, analyzing my mistakes and thinking about how I could improve. But as the warmth of the bath seeped into my bones, my thoughts grew foggy, and I felt my eyelids growing heavy.

I emerged from the bath feeling refreshed and relaxed. I dried myself off and slipped into comfortable clothes, then made my way to the bed. The softness of the mattress enveloped me, and I felt myself sinking into its depths.

As I lay there, I felt my breathing slow, and my mind began to quiet. I thought about Senior Qīnq and the Shadow Lord, wondering what lay ahead in my training. But my thoughts were fleeting, and soon I was asleep, lulled by the silence of the room and the comfort of the bed.

My sleep was deep and dreamless, my body repairing itself from the rigours of the trial. I slept for hours, unaware of the world outside my room, until the sound of a gentle knock on the door woke me from my slumber, causing me to jolt upright.

I quickly threw off the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed, attempting to stand up. However, my body was still heavy with exhaustion, and my muscles felt like lead.

As I tried to stand, my legs gave way beneath me, and I felt myself falling. I tried to break my fall, but it was too late. My head hit the hard floor with a loud thud, and everything went black.

I was unconscious, unable to move or respond. My body lay limp on the floor, my head throbbing with pain. The knock on the door came again, louder this time, but I couldn't respond. I was trapped in a darkness, unable to escape.

The sound of footsteps echoed outside my room, growing louder with each passing moment. The door creaked open, and a figure loomed over me, their face blurry and indistinct.

"Leon?" a voice called out, shaking me gently. "Leon, can you hear me?"

But I couldn't respond. I was lost in a sea of darkness, unable to find my way back to consciousness. The figure sighed and knelt beside me, their hands checking my pulse and my breathing.

"I'll get the Shadow Lord," they whispered, before disappearing from my side.

I lay there, alone and unconscious, my body broken and my mind shattered. The darkness closed in around me, and I knew no more.
