The soldiers roamed the streets, gathering civilians into nearby buildings. They had managed to gather a reasonable number of people, but soldiers and knights still patrolled the streets, tense with the knowledge that the Red Wings would attack soon. The sun had begun to rise, casting a pale light over the city. Everyone was on edge.
The civilians, though, seemed less worried. Their knights were with them—all 11, excluding Persephone. They believed in their protection. But like predators, the Red Wings had already begun to stalk their prey. They moved swiftly, silently across the rooftops, their eyes fixed on the civilians.
Gwin, a Roundtable knight, spotted one of them first. Her eyes widened.
"The Red Wings are here!" she shouted, her spear materializing in her hand in a flash of light.
The knights turned in unison, eyes locking onto the rooftops where the Red Wings had taken position.
