Chapter 24 - Chapter Twenty-four: Unraveling the Truth.

The soft light of the afternoon sun filtered through the curtains as Lee Soo Jeon sat on her couch, her mind racing. The image Ji-Eun had posted was still fresh in her memory, a painful reminder of how easily lies could be spread. She knew Min Jun wouldn't betray her, but the doubt gnawed at her. Ji-Eun had succeeded in planting a seed of uncertainty, and Soo Jeon couldn't shake the feeling that she needed to do something—anything—to defend her relationship.

Soo Jeon took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside her. She couldn't confront Min Jun without knowing the full truth. What if he misunderstood her intentions? What if she pushed him away by acting out of fear rather than trust? The thought of losing him was unbearable. Determined to clear the air, Soo Jeon decided to investigate the claims Ji-Eun had made.

Her first step was to reach out to mutual friends, people who might have seen or heard something. She sent a few discreet messages, carefully wording her questions to avoid drawing too much attention to the situation. As she waited for responses, she combed through Ji-Eun's social media posts, looking for clues. The more she looked, the more she noticed inconsistencies—small details that didn't quite add up.

Hours passed, and just as Soo Jeon was starting to feel discouraged, her phone buzzed. It was a message from a friend who had seen the original post and had some interesting information to share. Apparently, the photo Ji-Eun posted was from an old event, long before Min Jun had even met Soo Jeon. It was clear now—Ji-Eun had twisted the truth, using an old memory to create a false narrative.

Soo Jeon felt a surge of relief, but also a growing sense of anger. How could Ji-Eun stoop so low? She knew she had to confront her, but it had to be done carefully. Soo Jeon arranged to meet Ji-Eun at a quiet café, away from prying eyes.

When they met, Ji-Eun was all smiles, her usual charm on full display. But Soo Jeon could see through it now. She calmly placed her phone on the table, pulling up the evidence she had gathered.

"Ji-Eun, I know what you're trying to do," Soo Jeon said, her voice steady. "This picture you posted... it's from years ago, isn't it?"

"I'm talking about the truth," Soo Jeon replied, showing her the messages she had exchanged with friends, the old posts she had found. "This isn't recent. You're trying to make it look like something it's not, and I won't let you sabotage my relationship with Min Jun."

Ji-Eun's expression darkened, her façade cracking. "You think you can just waltz in and take him from me? You have no idea what we've been through together."

Soo Jeon shook her head. "This isn't about the past, Ji-Eun. It's about the present and the lies you're trying to spread. I won't let you hurt Min Jun or me with your games."

Ji-Eun's fists clenched, but she said nothing. The truth was laid bare, and there was nothing left for her to deny.

Later that evening, Soo Jeon met with Min Jun. The nervous energy she felt earlier had given way to a calm resolve. She knew what she had to do.

"Min Jun," she began as they sat together in the familiar comfort of her living room, "I need to talk to you about something important."

He looked at her, concern flickering in his eyes. "What is it?"

Soo Jeon took a deep breath and told him everything—about Ji-Eun's post, her investigation, and the confrontation. She was honest about her fears and doubts but made it clear that she believed in him and their relationship.

Min Jun listened quietly, his expression softening as she spoke. When she finished, he took her hands in his, his voice filled with warmth. "Soo Jeon, thank you for trusting me. I'm sorry you had to go through all of this, but I'm so grateful that you didn't let it come between us."

She smiled, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "We're in this together, right?"

Always," Min Jun replied, pulling her into a gentle embrace. "No matter what happens, we'll face it together."

As they held each other, Soo Jeon felt a renewed sense of peace. She had faced the challenge head-on, and though the road ahead might still hold obstacles, she knew that with Min Jun by her side, they could overcome anything.
