Rain. God do I hate the rain. You'd think that living in Seattle would teach you a thing or two about preparation. That only applies if you aren't a moron.
I happen to be the moron in question.
You know what I did? I looked at the cloudy ass sky and thought to myself "Yeah I'll just run over to the store, I'll be fast." and didn't bring an umbrella.
Can you guess what happened once I took about 20 steps outside?
Bingo! It started fucking raining.
It wasn't all bad though, I saw one of my friends and he was thankfully a lot smarter than I was and had his umbrella. So he walked me back to my apartment.
All fine and dandy right?
But that's when I noticed something weird, and I mean weird. I'm waiting for myself to dry a little before I go inside, because no one wants to get water all over their floor, and I notice someone outside. There's a girl wearing one of those Japanese school uniforms, the ones with the bow thing. Sure that's a little strange out here, but who knows, she could just be doing cosplay.
That's what I would've thought if the rain was actually hitting her.
She didn't have an umbrella, and the rain was avoiding her. And by avoiding her, I mean the droplets stopped, turned about 90 degrees, moved out of the way, and then fell.
If that wasn't the weirdest part, she turned to look at me and did this creepy ass smile.
Then I blacked out.
"Oh Chosen One, please defeat the Demon Lord and save the world!"
That voice, and the brightest light I've ever seen were the first things I woke up to.
"Please, take the power of the [System] to assist you on your journey."
I very much wanted to raise my voice in concern, but it just wasn't happening. My voice didn't exist in that moment.
Then I actually woke up.
Not on my bed though, this was grass.
And flashing right before my eyes is a nice big and green menu, straight out of a video game.
