Chapter 39 - Cursed Forest 3

"Just what kind of place is this," he thought, scratching the side of his head. Walking over an hour now, he hadn't come across any beasts nor sense any presence of beasts lurking in the shadow. Though his void sense and void eyes were limited to the hundred metre range.

For some unknown reasons, he felt his body trembling as he ventured deeper. "What's this feeling?" Staring behind, the gate still stood but was small due to him looking from afar.

The gentle breeze blew past him, fluttering his clothes and hair. "This is odd." Staring high, he felt the wind gathering

The rattling of the chains holding the castle-like building caught Kael's attention. If the eerie aura being emitted by the castle was like a storm brewing before, now it appeared to be chaotic, with visible dark strands of energy swirling wildly.

Though still thousands of miles away, Kael felt the turbulent energy surging and spreading all over the vast expanse. "What the hell is happening!"

It appeared the region had awakened with terrifying roars and trembling of the earth, signifying its wake. The ground divided, forming a rift with dark, scaly beastly hands covered with deadly claws coming out from within the depths of the earth.

"These... these are Rank A beasts!" He exclaimed with a shocked expression. "I can't face them... not this large number! Surviving now and escaping out of this place is my priority!" Not waiting for the terrifying beings to reveal themselves, Kael dashed back to the gate with all his might.

Running and blinking across the area, he reached the half mark of his journey back but that was just the amount of time he could get to escape freely as the beasts had finally climbed to the surface of the earth.

ROOOAAR!

The roar of a large group of terrifying monsters was capable enough of even making the courageous kael tremble. "Dammit!" He exclaimed, hitting his shaky legs.

"Activate the void eyes and void sense," he said quickly. Although not fully recovered, he had no choice but to make use of every available skill in order to survive.

Looking behind, his expression paled as he saw the crowd of beasts already moving towards his direction. Beasts of various kinds, all eager to tear his flesh into bits and pieces.

"I'm jot gonna die here!" Increasing his speed, he forced whatever reserve of energy he could muster as he focused on getting to the gate.

BOOOM! The spot where he stood moments ago exploded with a large round monster erupting from the depths with a body covered in terrifying round eyes and deadly rows of teeth.

"What the hell!" Kael exclaimed, his breath heavy. The beast once again burrowed into the earth travelling towards his direction.

SCREEECH

From above the piercing scream of a large beast with long necks and glittering feathers adorned with spikes, screeched loudly with its gaze fixed on Kael. The other beasts were also beginning to catch up with him, and those able to launch long-range attacks had begun already.

The bird beast from above attacked from above while the giant worm-like beast attacked from below and with other attacks from several of the beasts.

The journey was a perilous one with Kael narrowing evading their attacks all thanks to his space skills. Though he wasn't able to fully evade all attacks leading to the injuries to slowly pile up.

He felt he had narrowly evaded death a couple of times now, and finally, with one last blink, he appeared at the spot he first stood when he passed through the gate.

"Thank goodness! The gate is there!" He thought with a relieved sigh. Kael had even forgotten about the situation that occurred, which made him venture deeper but was glad he could finally leave the place.

"Oh no! This isn't possible!" Kael muttered with mouth wide open.

BOOM!

The ground behind him exploded with the worm beast appearing out of the hole. Kael, still dumbfounded by the bizarre turn of events, could only curse his luck.

The opening, which he passed through, was nowhere to be found. Instead, the gate appeared stronger than before. "I'm starting to wonder what kind of luck had been granted to me," he thought as the deadly teeth of the beast sank into his shoulders, flinging him back like a ragdoll.

[You caused this on yourself. You should be thankful you're still alive. Maybe you're truly lucky]

Kael crashed to the ground, bouncing across until finally coming to a stop a few metres away from the rest of the beasts.

[-50hp]

Just that little attack close to a quarter of his health point was gone. The bird beast was the first to react, quickly swooping down with its deadly talons positioned right at Kael.

[C'mon, get up! You don't want to waste my master's sacrifice!]

"Your master sacrifice, huh?" Kael muttered, rising to his feet. "Urghh," groaning softly, he wasn't scared of the beast, which was dangerously closer now with its claws gleaming before his face.

BAMMM!

A ripple spread across the area as a blue barrier appeared before Kael. "Shit! It won't hold lon–"

BOOOM!

His body was sent hurtling backwards with a large gash opening across his left eye, spilling blood all over his face. Kael felt pain with his body weakened by just that attack.

[-70hp]

"Fuck me sideways!" He cursed struggling to stay on his feet. His blood was spilling to the ground due to his head which was facing down. His vision was getting blurry with his body not listening to his command.

Another beast, one covered with grey bones all over his body charged forward with a spike of bone shooting outward from its body.

BAMMM!

Slamming into him, the bone pierced through his stomach appearing at the other side. Coughing out blood, Kael fell on his knees with blood spilling uncontrollably from his mouth. His body couldn't even keep up with the healing as another attack landed cleaving through his waist, going halfway through before stopping.

[Wake up! Don't die on me! ... Make use of it! The abyssal heart! It's your only way of surviving!]

Kael heard a voice which was getting distant each second. "Abyssal heart," the word rang out loudly in his head, striking a chord within. Letting out a terrifying roar, he granted control to the abyssal heart causing his body to glow brightly. The beast, which was about landing an attack, was engulfed by the bright glow with its body consumed by a dark shadow, turning into particles.

Kael felt his body begin to heal rapidly with bones and flesh shifting into place. His injured eye formed back with the vortex swirling wildly within.

"You've got to go for my eyes, huh?"Kael muttered in anger. Kael now stood confidently. It appeared a different person had taken control as his aura flared wildly. With the abyssal heart granted control over his other heart, his healing speed had increased by a large margin, and in no time, he was fully healed.

Standing before the beasts, he knew even with the abyssal heart he wouldn't be able to take them out. Not wasting time, his scythe formed in his hands along with a pulse of a dark purplish energy spreading all over the area.

[Abyssal Dominion has been activated]

The area began changing with dark shadows spreading all over the place, forming a sphere around all of them. A vortex opened up in the centre sucking in everything, and then exploded.

When the beasts came to, they found themselves in a strange environment. Sky as dark as the night, even their home paled in comparison with this.

"Why don't we continue from where we stopped then!" Kael's voice echoed across the area, his scythe placed atop his shoulders as he stared down at the beasts.
