Chapter 6 - Operation Apex!

Two Years Passed in a Flash, from 2003 to 2005!

Currently, in a hidden experimental facility in Siberia, the eerie surroundings were only broken by the occasional flashes of light from the flashlights attached to the guns on various soldiers protecting the base.

Alongside that, there were watch-towers all around the base, each with massive lights that could illuminate a massive area.

All of the guards were fully armed and ready for any situation, which was natural.

Two years ago, after Kayn and the group's escape, the organization's forces all over Europe were immediately mobilized, tasked with hunting and retrieving all of the children.

However, after a year, there was nothing, not even a shred of a clue, it was as if they didn't even exist. It was impossible for this large group of people to leave Russia or the surrounding countries without the organizations knowledge.

Yet after searching every conceivable place, they always came up empty handed, it was as if they vanished.

However, just when the organization was about to give up, subject #257, better known as Kayn, reappeared, annihilating one of their bases and taking all of the equipment there, whilst destroying all of the research data.

However unlike before where he was still obviously not used to his abilities and only used brute force, now he was a full on killing machine. He seemed to perfectly be in control of his powers now, slaughtering enemies with great efficiency, all the while leaving much of the environment in tact.

His physical characteristics seem to constantly be getting stronger, and he seemed to have a telekinetic power equaling or even surpassing that of Martian Manhunter.

However, it wasn't just Kayn who had improved, subject #146, nicknamed the Kitsune, also massively improved.

Now much more in tune with her powers, she was able to cast a grand illusion that allowed Kayn and his gang to raid an entire base without even needing to kill anyone and without being spotted.

With these actions, the search for this group was bigger than ever, yet nothing. It was as if they vanished after every raid, with only some spacial energy in the environment, leading the higher-ups to believe one of the children manifested a Teleportation or Portal ability.

With all of these attacks, each of the bases got massively increased defenses, and each soldier was even given a spiritual protection bracelet, to defend against Telepathic attacks.

The guards all slowly walked around, alert to any potential change in the environment as time slowly ticked away, seeming as this night would be a usual one, but unfortunately, a disaster was already in their midst.

~BOOM~BOOM!

Two immense booms shook the entire Earth, a streak of purple thunder flashing throughout the sky, the alarms immediately started ringing, yet it was already to late.

~BOOM~

Instantly, all 4 of the watch-towers simultaneously exploded, leading everyone inside dead, and a purple lightning bolt cackling around the buildings ruin.

"THEY'RE HERE!" One of the guards shouted, only for a large truck, one of the guard fans, to be crashed onto his head, crushing his body and instantaneously killing him.

The entire environment began shaking violently, like a destructive earthquake was occurring, making entire buildings collapse on top of themselves. The wind roared, almost like a tornado, blowing many soldiers away to be crushed by falling buildings and vehicles.

The siren continued roaring out, alerting any guards who haven't already died of the situation, but any more guards arriving won't stop them.

As the smoke cleared, Kayn, Mika, Violet and Hugo stepped forward, spotting hundreds of heavily armed guards still running towards them, all with laser-guided weapons pointed directly at them, fingers on the trigger ready to fire.

"Do you all honestly believe you can win? Stand down!" Kayn spoke, compared to 2 years before, he was even more confident, more intimidating, his very presence along with those piercing thunder coated purple eyes left for a terrifying combo, especially among those who knew his feats.

"NEVER! Vanguard, move Out!" The commander of the operation, a tall, gruff man in the back of the formation shouted, leaving Kayn to chuckle.

Every time he raided one of these buildings, it was the same song and dance, and every time, the soldiers rejected his proposal to surrender. He had to admit, this organization, which he came to know was APEX, an European Branch of CADMUS, was extremely effective at brainwashing.

Their soldiers were never afraid to die for the cause, and even relished in the opportunity, like brain damaged idiots.

"Take them out, I'll go collect anything useful." Kayn said to his allies, vanishing into purple smoke as he made his way into the base's main building to steal away any useful equipment and information.

Kayn stepped into the dimly lit corridor of the base's main building, his eyes glowing with a fierce, electrifying purple hue. He could sense the pulse of energy from the various devices and servers hidden within the walls. His mission was clear: destroy the base and retrieve any valuable intel or equipment, it was routine for him.

As he moved silently down the hall, the distant sound of gunfire and explosions echoed from outside. His companions, Mika, Violet, and Hugo, were busy defeating the remaining guards.

Suddenly, the corridor ahead was filled with the heavy footsteps of soldiers rushing to intercept him.

Kayn smirked, raising his hand as tendrils of purple lightning began to dance around his fingers. With a swift motion, he unleashed a bolt of lightning that struck the first wave of soldiers, sending them crashing into the walls with charred uniforms and lifeless bodies. The air crackled with residual energy as he advanced, each step radiating with power.

More soldiers appeared, their spiritual protection bracelets glowing faintly in an attempt to shield them from Kayn's telekinetic prowess. However, Kayn's mastery had evolved beyond their defenses.

He flicked his wrist, and a powerful gust of wind surged down the corridor, sweeping the soldiers off their feet and slamming them into the ceiling with bone-crushing force.

He flashed forward, his boot stepping on their heads, crushing their heads and brutally killing them as he continued onwards.

Kayn moved with unparalleled speed, his movements a blur as he closed in on a heavily fortified door at the end of the corridor.

Two guards stood ready, their expressions a mixture of fear and determination. Kayn paused, his eyes narrowing. He didn't need to waste his energy on these pawns.

Instead, he extended his hand, and the door behind the guards was torn off its hinges, flying towards them with deadly precision. They barely had time to react before being pinned against the wall, unconscious.

Inside the room, rows of servers hummed and glowed with a soft blue light. Kayn approached the central terminal, taking out a USB Flash-Drive he had created and plugging it into the central terminal.

Soon, all the data in the terminal began flooding towards the USB, streams of information about APEX's operations at this base. Instead of experimentation, this base dealt with researching Magical Artifacts.

As the data uploaded, Kayn's concentration was interrupted by a sudden rush of footsteps. Turning sharply, he saw a squad of elite soldiers, each equipped with advanced weaponry designed to counter Meta-Human abilities.

The leader, a tall woman with a scar running down her face, stepped forward, her eyes cold and calculating.

"Subject #257," she said, her voice steady. "You won't leave here alive."

Kayn's grin widened. "I've heard that before."

With a burst of speed, he launched himself at the squad, lightning and fists moving in perfect harmony.

His first strike sent a shockwave through the room, short-circuiting the soldiers' equipment. He moved through them like a storm, each punch and kick enhanced by the crackling energy surrounding him.

The elite soldiers, despite their training and equipment, fell one by one under Kayn's relentless assault.

~CRACK~

The sound of a skull cracking echoed throughout the room as Kayn grabbed another by the neck, channeling his lightning and electrocuting him to death.

Then, Kayn turned around to stare at the woman once again.

"Subject #257, your strength is indeed very strong, but you should thank us, we gave you this." She said, trying to persuade Kayn with her words.

However, Kayn didn't budge, to him, APEX brought nothing but death and suffering to the world, and he needed to cleanse it entirely.

Seeing that Kayn's expression didn't change, the lady knew that her thoughts were a little naive, but she was just taking chances. If this method didn't work, she simply would threatened him directly.

"The Higher-ups have a keen interest in you #257, it won't be long before they send the big guns to take you down." She said, which did catch Kayn's interest a little bit.

If the higher ups, meaning CADMUS, had taken interest in him, then he needed to be prepared. Who knew what crazy, psychotic things those people would do.

"I'll handle that when I need to." Kayn said, sending a wave of Magical Energy crashing into her, annihilating her body and soul.

In the aftermath, Kayn stood amidst the wreckage, breathing heavily but unharmed. He turned back to the terminal, securing the data he had retrieved. Then, he moved towards the equipment room, taking away anything he deemed useful

With a final look around, he vanished in a flash of purple smoke, reappearing outside the base where the others awaited him, already taken down all of the guards.

"Everything good?" Violet asked, worried about Kayn.

"Mission accomplished," he said, holding up a small drive containing the stolen data and the bags of equipment he stole that he was carrying telekinetically.

"Let's get out of here." Kayn said, Hugo immediately creating a portal for the team as they disappeared into the night.

The base behind them erupted in flames, another victory in their ongoing war against APEX, and by extension, CADMUS!
