A young heavily injured man of about sixteen sat in cuffs looking at his new system with an angry smile. He had reincarnated sixteen years ago into the South Blue in an unnamed village. He had already lived sixteen long, hard, painful years. His path had so far been written in blood with his parents and village dying to pirates early on with him spending a few years training and hunting the same pirates. He had no friends or anyone that actually knew him.
Not even the marines that attacked and captured him after he fought the pirates knew his name. He looked at the system as his glare slowly became one of happiness. Like his father in this world would say, "Better late than never."

Markus felt a surge of power and information as his body healed then bulked seemingly having gained muscle and height. Markus looked down at his hands and before closing his eyes. He took a deep breath and felt the cold steel on his hands. He could hear rain hitting the deck of the ship he was on. He could even hear the breath of a guard nearby falling asleep.
His eyes opened as he looked down. His muscles rippled across his hands as a low black shine covered his knuckles, fingers, and palms slowly. He huffed as his Haki disappeared.

Markus could feel his HK recovering and his smile widened. He knew they were taking him to Strongarm Island. A Marine Island right before the Grandline used to battle pirates. Markus suspected he had about a week before he was taken there and by then he will be taken straight across the calm belt towards Impel Down.
He took a deep breath and started summoning both his Observation and Armament to the max he could. His Armament slowly began to wrap around his hands and feet while his Observation extended almost 20 meters all around him. He felt a slight headache as his Haki dissipated. He took a deep breath as his Haki came back before repeating the same process.
In an hour he could already cover his hands and feet for a few minutes while his Observation spread over 30 meters. By the end of the day he could hold his Haki on any part of his body for over ten minutes while his Observation was much more detailed. Markus took a deep breath as his Haki recovered.
Releasing a deep breath he unleashed his Haki again. He fell asleep while training his Haki late into the night. He only slept a few short hours before he woke up and unleashed his Haki. By noon he could cover his entire body with a thin layer of Armament for a minute and sense almost 40 meters.

[Armament Haki leveled up! +1,000 EXP! +4 Levels! Increased stats!]
While Markus couldn't see his stats he felt a massive surge of strength and smiled. He was close to leveling up with Observation. He closed his eyes and leveled up his Observation quickly leveling up once more. With his Observation leveling up he could see on the deck in great detail.
He watched as a few marines started cleaning the deck before more gathered and started training. For a while they just did basic training so he wasn't interested before they started sword training. Markus focused heavily as they started practicing.
[Observing Basic Sword Training +1 Beginner Swordsmanship exp!...]
Multiple such notifications sounded out repeatedly as the marines practiced for three hours. Markus had to take a break halfway through but he did catch the last hour thankfully.

Markus rolled his neck and took another deep breath before unleashing his Haki. He took the rest of the day to practice his Haki before it was almost midnight. He could hear the soft snoring of a new guard and let his Armament cover his fingers. He used his Observation to find the weakest points on the chains and pulled them apart as hard as he could.
He broke the right cuff first before quickly breaking the left. Â
"Wha? What was that? Hey you better not be causing problems Pirate!" Markus clicked his tongue and focused on a few bars before Armament covered his feet. He turned on his left foot and slammed his heel into the crevice of a wall the bars connected to. The wall broke causing long metal bars to be exposed.
"HEY!!" Markus charged through the small hole and using Observation reached out and grabbed the scruff of the Marine trying to make his way to his cell. Markus slammed the marine into the wall before punching his jaw with Armament and taking his sword. Markus swung the sword a few times before smiling. Â
He wasn't that bad with a sword before but now he could tell it would be useful in a fight. Markus could feel a few marines making their way towards him so he closed his eyes and focused on allowing his Haki to flow through his hand. He couldn't see but a thin shine of black covered the sword before fading almost immediately. Â
Markus huffed before taking a deep breath and raising his sword. He opened his eyes and didn't even look at his sword before slashing through the wall. Markus blinked away some dust before his eyes adjusted to the moonlit ocean. Markus smiled and sheathed the sword before diving into the ocean.
His Observation rushed out around him quickly giving him vision as he started swimming as fast as he could. He didn't know where the next island was but he could estimate knowing he got picked up from Rice town and was heading towards the military base east so if he headed the left side further south he knew he would eventually reach some mass of islands. He just hopped it before he got too tired to continue.
Markus let his Observation Haki weaken to only ten meters and swam at a leisurely pace. Markus always enjoyed swimming even in this life with more dangerous creatures but with Observation it was much easier. He could freely see the waves and find the best current to follow when he needed to rest.Â
He noticed while swimming even when he turned his Observation off along with his stamina it was all recovering slower even when he was just floating. He didn't spend much time idle before he continued on his way. Â
Markus didn't keep track of the time but it was close to being night again when he saw an island. He increased his speed and turned his Haki off. He eventually hit a beach and crawled across it until he was under a few trees nearby. He collapsed onto his back huffing from exhaustion.

Markus didn't know how long he slept but it was a new day and his Overexertion effect was gone so he got to training. This time he infused Haki into his sword while extending his Observation as he practiced all his skills at the same time. He found gathering Armament into his hand then extending it through the handle into the blade was much easier but slower than just infusing it into the blade.
He spent time trying to instantly unleash his Haki around his blade and body. Markus was swinging his sword against a tree when he suddenly turned around and slashed. A tall man with short blue hair smiled down at Markus casually holding Markus's sword with a Haki coated fist. Markus's eyes widened as he looked up at the unknown man.
"Who are you?" Markus used his Haki to pull his sword away before jumping back. The man just looked at Markus with a casual stance.
"Oh… isn't it polite to introduce oneself first?" Markus felt his eye twitch but huffed as his Haki told him he was much weaker than the man in front of him.
"Markus."
"Nice to meet you Markus. I'm Shisu. This is technically my island you're on." Markus became confused. 'The hell you mean technically yours?? Are you the mayor? Are you rich?? A king?? A celestial pig???'
"Uh sorry? Didn't know this was a private island or whatever. I broke out from a Marine Ship and swam here." The man raised an eyebrow before pointing towards a large tree.
"Hmm. I was going to kill you but you seem like a reasonable young man. See that big tree there." Markus felt angry but ignored the man's comment before nodding seeing a large pine tree overshadowing the rest of the forest. "Don't go past it or die."
The man's face became intense making Markus feel a huge weight on his body. The world seemed to become colorless as Markus shook before he took a sharp breath. 'Conqueror's.' Markus noted.
"Alright."Â The man slowly started calmly smiling again and nodded.
"Good. A ship will arrive in a little less than two months so I hope you can hunt and cook. Good luck!" Markus nodded as the man disappeared but his Haki caught him just moving quickly, although he barely caught it.
Markus let go of a breath he didn't know he was holding and slowly got back up.
[Exposed to the King's Will! Increased Mental Fortitude!]
Markus smiled having gained something before he turned back to the tree he had been slashing at. He turned his Haki off and started practicing with just his sword. He quickly grew tired but then started training Haki. Once he was out of Haki he started training his sword again.
He kept going until he collapsed before hunting a few beasts for his meal. He made a simple bonfire before resting for the night. Markus woke with the sun and went back to training making much quicker progress actually getting to use his Haki other than letting it just manifest around him.
He could feel the strength behind each hit or slash with almost no recoil, his Haki absorbing it. He could feel his Observation becoming clearer and his Armament becoming denser with each second as he not only gained experience points but practical real experience from using it so much.
In just two more days his Haki had leveled up.

Hunting got him some Beginner Swordsmanship and Armament experience with his class actually leveling up when he reached level 10 in Beginner Swordsmanship. He slowly raised his sword and started practicing once more. He had spent years training to defeat some low class South Blue pirates yet still was captured by the Marines shortly after to steal his credit and the pirates treasure.
Markus wanted to live a peaceful life the way he wanted but for that he needed to be stronger. The Strongest. He felt his Haki erupt as he unleashed it to continue his training. His Armament was harder while his Observation gave perfect detail in a little over twenty meters radius. Â
Markus focused more on his sword for a few more days even learning he can level his class normally when it leveled up while fighting wild animals. He also confirmed his class levels up every ten levels in his Swordsmanship. Markus eventually stopped to rest, laying on the beach and looking up at the night sky.
"Why do you watch me train?"Â Markus spoke aloud as he got comfortable in the sand.
"It reminds me of my youth."Â The older man walked across the sand and sat next to Markus.
"You a big shot or something? I didn't know anyone in the South Blue had Conqueror's Haki." Markus closed his eyes to relax as Shisu pulled out a small piece of wood and a knife.
"Hahahaha! I guess you could say I was a bit of a problem for the Marines in my younger days! However, that was decades ago… I am just a peaceful man looking for some rest." Markus hummed as he used Observation to watch the man whittle the wood.
"How's the peaceful life treating you?" He was genuinely curious. Shisu chuckled.
"A little boring honestly. Without my crew I've been a little lonely but it's not all so bad. The Marines don't bother me, Pirates usually run from my Haki, Bounty Hunters think I'm dead, and Civilians never come here except a friend of mine." Markus focused more on the wood, interested to see what the man was making but thought about what he said.
"Ship that's coming here next month?"Â Shisu simply hummed in acknowledgement.
"Son of my old Vice-Captain. A better man. Never became a pirate and started his own trading company around here." Markus was quite intrigued finally seeing how detailed everyone's life was. For the first time in this life he entered a deep thinking state before opening his eyes to look at the sky. 'I'm truly alive again.'
Markus looked over at Shisu and sat up. The man raised an eyebrow but kept whittling as Markus kneeled in front of him and put his head to the ground.
"Please Sir! Teach me Haki!" Shisu paused momentarily before keeping a blank face. Markus could hear the ocean hitting the beach, the chirping of crickets, the howl of a very distant wolf, but not the whittling. He could sense it with his Haki "seeing" the man in action but without Observation focused on the man he couldn't tell he was here.
"Why in Goda's good name would I do that?" 'Goda? No, don't focus on that right now.' Markus looked up but kept his head down.
"You came to me because of your boredom. It's rare for someone to have Haki, especially two types in one of the Four Blues, so I believe I'm at least interesting. I have a dream. I will be the Strongest. Just like the ocean is blue and grass is green I will be the Strongest. So please… Help me." Markus bowed his head again.
"I'm an old man now. What do you think I could teach you?" Markus looked at the man and could tell he was at least in his 60's but Garp, Whitebeard, and Rayleigh were powerhouses into their 70's and even 80's so why can't this man still be in decent shape? He had closed his eyes before to focus on his senses but without already knowing he was there he couldn't find him. Meaning the man had let him see him while training. Markus trusted his gut that the man was still powerful.
"My Gut! My Haki says you're just an old man yet I also can feel a sense of dread and despair if I try to move against you, you intentionally revealed yourself to me while I was training, and you already said you were bored. I need to be as strong as I can before I set sail because once I do there won't be going back." Shisu hummed a tune before slowly setting the piece of wood in front of Markus. Â
Markus looked at it and was surprised to see a little him training with his sword. He looked at the older man smiling who stood up. Shisu started walking away before looking back.
"Come along. If you truly want to be the strongest your talent can only take you so far. Even though you train hard you obviously don't have much practical knowledge in Haki or Swordsmanship. If you want to be the Strongest you'll fight a lot of people, not just wild animals." Markus quickly ran after Shisu with a huge grin.
