Chapter Six
At last, Lucas and Cora earned their degrees and both landed at the same university. Cora was elated, but her joy turned to dismay when she realized that Ariel, her rival for Lucas's affection, was also a fellow student.
Determined to have Lucas to herself, Cora made life difficult for Ariel in every way possible. She used her influence with the lecturers to make sure Ariel faced constant scrutiny and trouble settling into her classes. To make matters worse, Cora spread malicious rumors about Ariel, causing the poor girl to suffer from depression and anxiety during her first year.
Meanwhile, Lucas stood by Ariel, doing everything he could to stop the rumors and find out who was behind the cruel acts. After conducting his own investigation, Lucas discovered that it was Cora who had orchestrated the whole thing. Enraged, he confronted her in her dorm room, only to be met with a chilling revelation.
Cora confessed that she had targeted Ariel because she harbored feelings for Lucas. She professed her love for him, but Lucas, repulsed by her actions, bluntly rejected her advances. With a pained heart, Cora watched as he turned away, leaving her to contemplate the depth of her misguided affections.
