Chapter Five
The next day, Ariel and Lucas walked into school, and everyone admired them. Ariel, accompanied by Lucas, went to her locker. She gasped when she saw that someone had written hurtful words on her locker. Lucas, feeling angry, asked who did it, but no one answered. He then took his upset girlfriend somewhere quiet to help her calm down.
Meanwhile, Cora felt a strange mix of emotions. She was glad that Ariel was upset, but she also felt a bit sad that things had turned out this way. Later, when Lucas approached her on the field and asked if she was involved in the vandalism, she denied it and expressed surprise that he would even think that she could do such a thing.
Lucas mentioned a letter that she had given him expressing her disapproval of his relationship with Ariel. Cora admitted to disagreeing with their relationship but insisted that she didn't do anything to Ariel's locker. Lucas, feeling cautious, made it clear that he didn't have any romantic feelings for Cora and didn't want to be friends with her.
As he looked into her eyes, he felt that something wasn't right, but he decided to focus on being there for Ariel. He walked back to the school to be with his girlfriend.
