Adriel paced around his living room, glancing at his phone for the umpteenth time. After sending all those texts, the only message he had received from Ein was "Soon." He couldn't help but groan.
"Soon? Soon could mean ten minutes or ten years!" He threw his hands up dramatically, imagining Ein casually strolling through a blizzard, completely at ease.
"He even ended the message with a period. Is he mad at me or something?" Adriel tapped his foot. "Was I being annoying?"
With a sigh, he dropped his phone and himself onto the couch. The pizza box on the low table sat in the blanket wrapped like a present.
Adriel's stomach rumbled, and he turned to look at the clock. Only five minutes had passed since Ein's text.
He glanced back at the pizza box on the low table, its greasy, cheesy smell seeping into the blanket wrapped around it.
