Chapter 25 - Entering Legacy Gate Trial

Eldryn, after returning to his room, sat cross-legged and calmed his mind before entering the Legacy Gate trial space. Upon entering, he found a silver door in front of him, with everything else completely devoid of features. When he touched the silver door, he was teleported to an open ground with distant mountains and a nearby forest.

While Eldryn scanned his surroundings, an eternal voice echoed in his mind: "Welcome, trial taker. Since you have entered as a rank 3 warrior, for this trial, you must kill 1,000 3rd-rank star beasts, 100 4th-rank star beasts, and 1 5th-rank star beast within 10 days to pass this trial. You can check the number of beasts you've killedand your time progress by looking up at the sky. Note that 1 day in the trial space equals 1 hour outside."

"You can use any three weapon with just a thought from you but their rank cannot exceed the rank 7 ,All the best for your trial "

Eldryn tried to speak to the eternal voice, but received no reply. After the voice disappeared, beast roars echoed from the forest and distant mountains.

Eldryn then turned toward the forest and headed in that direction, muttering to himself, "It's possible to kill 4th-rank beasts, but a 5th-rank beast will be tough. No use in overthinking; I'll handle the 3rd and 4th-rank beasts first."

Eldryn stood on top of a large tree and looked into the distance, where a pack of around 120 Windrider beasts roamed, 30 of them being 4th rank.

He then glanced at the sky, noting that the count for 3rd-rank beasts had reached 47, with everything else still at zero. The time displayed 9 days, 7 hours, and 52 minutes.

Eldryn looked at the Windrider pack, and with a thought, a bow and a quiver of arrows appeared in his hands. He shot dozens of arrows at the 4th-rank Windriders. Though some arrows missed, the rest pierced their bodies, killing or severely injuring them because of the power of his proficient inferno shot and high physical strength.

As Eldryn shot, the beasts moved toward his position, changing direction to follow him even without being attacked, as if they could sense his location. However, Eldryn used his advanced 4th-rank Faint Float skill to evade them and continued shooting arrows one after another.

When Eldryn believed he could easily complete the trial with his physical strength and proficiency in Inferno Shot and Faint Float, he was abruptly confronted with a challenge. Upon depleting his third quiver of arrows, he realized there were no more arrows available. In other words, the trial space had only provided him with arrows for three quivers.

Despite this, Eldryn was not discouraged, as he had already killed all the 4th-rank beasts in the pack.

Eldryn drew the sword from his waist, having selected it as his first weapon for this trial. After about 30 minutes of intense fighting, he killed the remaining 3rd-rank beasts. He then collected arrows from the fallen Windrider beasts and piled all the dead bodies in an open field before returning to the treetops.

After waiting just over 30 minutes, another group of Windrider wolves, this time a small pack of 10, came into view. Eldryn quickly killed them all, piled their bodies, and then waited for other beasts to be drawn to the location by the scent of blood.

Eldryn used this method to kill the beasts around the area, managing to eliminate around 836 3rd-rank beasts and 67 4th-rank beasts in just over a day. However, he was left with only 13 arrows, all of which were badly dented.

While waiting for another group of beasts to appear, he suddenly heard a roar from a distance. The roar quickly grew louder, indicating that the beast was approaching his area rapidly. From the sound, Eldryn deduced that the beast must be a speed-type 4th-rank creature or possibly even a 5th-rank beast.

Shortly after, the Chill Panther with speed and ice affinity came into view. Seeing this beast, Eldryn hesitated momentarily before deciding to attack, knowing he might not encounter another 5th-rank beast soon and that he had the initiative to strike.

As the Chill Panther began eating the piled-up bodies, Eldryn took his chance. He knocked three arrows and shot them continuously at the beast's leg. Even with the Chill Panther's remarkable speed, one of the arrows was bound to hit its target.

As Eldryn expected, one of the arrows hit the leg and ruptured its bone. The Chillpanther let out a mournful cry before moving towards Eldryn's direction. Even though one of its legs was ruptured, its speed was still many times greater than that of the Windrider wolves. Nonetheless, Eldryn was able to keep up with it.

Soon, the Chillpanther and Eldryn started to fight, and Eldryn's body was riddled with wounds. Although this body was not his real one but merely an illusion, he felt pain similar to his real body being cut and ruptured.

Eldryn's regular attacks caused little damage to the Chillpanther, which always protected its weak spot as they fought at close range. At an unguarded moment, Eldryn used his Rank 2 Space Star power, which disrupted the surroundings. Seizing this opportunity, he attacked the beast's eye with lightning speed and then once again began his continuous attack with the Fingerstrike Cleave technique.

As Eldryn fought the Chillpanther using the Fingerstrike Cleave technique, he felt he was about to reach proficiency as his understanding of the technique deepened ,as it his first real life and death battle.

He had an epiphany, and with it, he felt his attack power increasing. Without hesitation, Eldryn struck the Chillpanther's forehead.

The beast let out a deafening roar, the sound echoing through the forest like a thunderclap. Its massive body convulsed and staggered before collapsing to the ground with a final, shuddering gasp. The fierce glow in its eye faded to a dull, lifeless hue.

Eldryn gasped for breath as he looked at the dead Chillpanther and noticed the Rank 5 Beast column marked in green in the sky. Without hesitation, he ran east, having heard numerous beast roars in that direction during his fight. As he approached, he saw a large group of over 300 Ironclaw Apes moving eastward, confirming his suspicion.

After hesitating for a moment, Eldryn decided to follow the group without attacking, as his serious injuries would likely lead to failure in the Trial if he engaged them now .

As night approached and the group slowed down, Eldryn summoned two daggers, thinking they would be effective against the slower beasts like ironclaw ape ,despite his lack of practice with them. He then took out his bow and shot the remaining arrows at the fourth rank beasts , seriously injuring it.

Eldryn said to to himself, "Indeed, it's impossible to break its defense with dented arrows," he watched as the Ironclaw Ape group began charging toward him, pounding their chests. Smiling, Eldryn said, "Here it comes, the bloody of strength and speed," and switched to his daggers, charging at the group.

As the two sides clashed, Eldryn increased his speed using a faint float skill and space star power to momentarily disrupt the space around him. He fought the Ironclaw Apes, slaying them with a single hit each time hitting their vital point. However, as the battle continued, the daggers began to show more dents, and Eldryn felt increasingly exhausted from maintaining the faint float skill throughout the fight.

Feeling exhausted, Eldryn considered retreating until he noticed that the Rank 3 Beast column in the sky had turned green and the Rank 4 Beast column read 94. With renewed determination, he fought the Rank 3 beast while searching for a Rank 4 beast. He soon saw eight Rank 4 beasts closing in from behind and, without hesitation, abandoned the Rank 3 beast to confront the Rank 4 beasts.

As Eldryn approached, the Rank 4 beasts roared in anger and charged at him. Eldryn quickly deployed the Fingerstrike Cleave, killing two of them before his sword shattered into pieces.

"What bad luck," Eldryn muttered. Undeterred, he used the Fingerstrike Cleave with his fingers to instantly kill a third beast, but he felt one of his fingers was badly mutilated, causing a severe pain unlike anything he had experienced before.

With pain overwhelming him, Eldryn felt further exhausted. Struggling to stay on his feet, he used his Fingerstrike technique to kill the 4th and 5th beasts. Just as he was about to attack the 6th beast, he noticed a Rank 3 beast trying to strike his shoulder. Exhausted, he couldn't activate his faint float skill in time and the beast ripped of his shoulder.

An intense pain assaulted his brain, causing him to cry out, "Aaaaaaa!" , but this also made him come back to his thoughts,So Without hesitation, he turned around and used his Fingerstrike technique to kill the 6th Rank 4 beast instead of attacking the Rank 3 beast.
