Chereads / The Immortal Drunkard / Chapter 207 - Volume 2 Chapter 207 - Provocation

Chapter 207 - Volume 2 Chapter 207 - Provocation

Everything that was happening now had been carefully predicted by Kai. Analysing the situation in the Shadowlands, he assumed that this was the case - many people were killing each other in the fight for resources!

Kai was very eager to conduct an experiment and try to absorb the blood of a martial arts master. There was an inherent research interest in this, one could say....

Except that Kai didn't want to directly break the rules of the Shadow Sect and kill people for no reason. After all, he was now also part of this force. And he came here on Master Mo's orders. In Kai's mind, disregarding the rules of the Shadow Sect had vilified his old man.....

Therefore, Kai decided to go the other way... By provocation!

If he defended himself, it would no longer be considered murder! Of course, it was undoubtedly a dirty method. But if they helped him, they would be completely safe.

But now...

- What the fuck?! - Suddenly, one of the men shouted out.

Something seemed to be slowly reaching them. The half-dead kid lying beside Silver Fang suddenly laughed and stood up! One would have to be an idiot not to suspect something wrong!

- Scatter! - Shouted the eldest of them!

As soon as this command sounded, each of the men turned around and started running! They chose different directions, thus severely restricting Kai.

'The Dance of the Shadow Marks!' - Kai said mentally and instantly appeared behind the back of the middle one of them.

It happened so fast that he didn't even have time to react. Kai's dagger was already at his neck!

- Brother, save me! - He shouted loudly!

At that moment, the running figure of the older of the two stopped. You could see that he was trembling with anger. Kai could tell without even seeing his eyes that he was hesitating... He was now thinking hard about his decision.

But in the end, the man turned around and ran back! He was heading back to his Brother. The weakest of the two continued his run, as he had originally stood further away and reacted faster. He was greatly frightened, so he didn't even pay attention to his mate's shout.

- What do you want? - The older of the men asked warily, looking at Kai.

Now, Kai was standing behind his victim's back. And his blade dug lightly into the neck of his hostage....

Although his two victims were at the middle stage of the Cloud Sphere, which was higher than Kai's cultivation. But they were Ordinary Disciples, their legacies were times worse. Kai was well aware that they were not his opponents.

- What do I want? I wanted help. - Kai replied calmly.

- Stop being a comedian! You don't want any fucking help! What do you want?! Let my Brother go! - The older man shouted and drew his sword again.

At this moment, Kai smiled evilly and instantly released his energy outwards!

The guy he was holding hostage immediately trembled in fear. It seemed like just a little more and he would wet his trousers.

- It's simple. Your blood. - Kai said coldly and cut off the hostage's head with lightning speed.

Kai's movements were very agile... The length of his blades was enough for such a manoeuvre!

- What are you doing! Bitch, I'll kill you! Graaaa! - The man screamed in uncontrollable rage and also released all his energy. Right now, he was blinded by sadness, hatred, and despair!

While all of this was happening, the weakest of the trio continued to run... He had already been travelling for about ten minutes through the jungle where Kai had come from earlier. His whole forehead would be in a cold sweat, he himself didn't realise why he was so scared.

After another ten minutes, he finally stopped....

- Heh... Heh... - Gulping air greedily, the guy was pulling away from the running, - Shit... Where's Lieber and Peev? Bitch...' he said heavily.

- Don't worry, you'll see them soon. - A cheerful voice sounded behind him.

The horror! Chilling horror was the only thing he felt in that second!

Without even reacting, his head flew off his shoulders unhindered... Before he could even hit the ground, he managed to see the last and most terrifying sight of his life! It was a picture of his main body shriveling up before his eyes!

The blood from it was instantly sucked outwards and was being channelled into Kai's body! He absorbed it as if it was completely natural. The blood didn't even remain on his clothes.....

At this moment, Kai was incredibly satisfied, and a wicked smile hung on his face. For a second, as if pulsing light, scarlet lines appeared on his body. They looked like miniature rivers of fresh blood.

Except, it wasn't his victim's blood. And not even his own....

- Hahaha! - Kai laughed loudly, 'The blood of masters is definitely much more useful! It contains much more energy than that of beasts. - Kai said excitedly.

He was convinced of his assumptions. If one absorbed other masters, the bloodline and cultivation itself would grow much faster!

- It seems that there will soon be a need to do some bad things... Hehe... - With a suffocating lust for killing, Kai gave out.

Right now, the atmosphere around him was quite frightening... It looked as if he was not a human, but one of the ravenous beasts of these Shadowlands.

'The inner environment of the Shadow Set is completely unsuitable for my development... If I were to stay in the Fatum Supreme Arena, it would become a useless waste of time! That's absolutely certain!' - In a slight ecstasy, issued in his head Kai.

- I won't be in a hurry... I'll start by cleaning out everyone in this depth. - Kai said decisively and clutching two daggers started walking forward, -Wait... We need to gather useful things... -Kai suddenly said and turned around.

Although these guys were only Ordinary Disciples of the Shadow Sect, they still had many useful items with them. And Kai, in turn, had an extensive spatial ring... Needlessly losing valuables was very illogical.

After picking up everything he liked, Kai dashed towards the wolf's corpse. So far, he hadn't fought any other creatures in those meadows. But from the strength of the Silver Fang, Kai realised that the power level of the beasts in the stone expanses was higher.

Kai decided that in the coming weeks, he would explore the surroundings and devour all the animals uncontrollably. If he encounters other martial artists, he will test their cunning.

Those who do not fall for his provocation will live!

Those who choose to do evil will die!

Naturally, Kai realised that it was all just a game. He didn't care at all about good and evil. or who his potential victims were. It's just that Kai had his own idiosyncrasies in his head.

He respected his Master, and didn't want to disrespect him directly. Still, the Shadow Sect had some traditions. And Kai wasn't some maniac after all... Killing everyone indiscriminately wasn't something adequate, and he understood that perfectly well.

Thinking about all this, Kai even speculated if there were any places on the Celestial Continent where battles were going on uncontrollably? Perhaps some dangerous lands where killing is ubiquitous... Kai realised that under such conditions, he would progress at an incredible speed.

'Useless dreams won't do any good, so I need to make the most of what I have now...' - Kai thought, standing over the carcass of the beast.

At this moment, his clothes were torn and his entire body was covered in wounds. It was obvious that Kai had just finished a fierce fight.....

His body once again began to absorb the blood around him. And the wounds at this point began to heal more abruptly. It wasn't enough to heal completely. But still, the positive effects were definitely felt....

- The beasts in this area are very strong... Going any further would be a bad decision... Heh... - Kai was breathing heavily, thinking aloud, - We need to find a shelter... - He said tiredly.

When he killed the three masters, it was already sunset. For the next night, Kai did not go deeper into the Shadowlands, but simply hunted. After the Fury King's Torture, the night was not a hindrance for Kai.

Next, he spent the entire following day advancing towards the core, destroying and devouring beasts along the way. He never met any other masters....

Eventually, by evening, Kai came to an area similar to the hillside. There wasn't as much vegetation here as in the jungle at the entrance. The area was similar to the forest where he met Master Mo.

To Kai's surprise, the beasts living in this place began to show a decent fight back. The last one had inflicted many wounds on Kai. Although they couldn't cause death, but if such monsters were in packs... Kai would only have one option left - run away!

Seeing the darkness outside, Kai realised the urgent need for cover... A carelessness could lead to a very real threat to his life.

- Thax... I hear the sound of water in the distance... It sounds like a waterfall. - Kai said quietly and slowly walked in the direction of the noise.

And as it turned out, his hearing did not fail him. Soon, Kai came to a small lake with a waterfall. In the middle of the lake was a small island with a split boulder. After a closer look, Kai decided that it would be a good place to set up a tent....

Kai didn't swim across, but simply used the Shadow Mark. A second later, he was already standing near the split rock.

'Okay... We need to check the lake... If it's inhabited by someone dangerous staying here would be idiotic...' - Kai suddenly thought. He even wondered if he should have done that before he jumped onto the islet.

Kai closed his eyes and spread his energy and perceptions in all directions, penetrating even under the water.

This way, he wanted to inspect the entire body of water, and make sure there was no danger here.

Suddenly, his eyes opened and he visibly cheered up.

- Hehehe... Now that's just what I need! - He laughed and used the Shadow Mark again.

A moment later, Kai was already in a dark, not very deep cave. The sound of a huge amount of water falling echoed through it. But surprisingly, it wasn't very damp.

The cave wasn't big... It seemed quite cosy for some reason. Kai liked it immediately! He took out a small amount of firewood from the ring, and with a snap of his fingers, he ignited it. The whole cave was finally flooded with light.

- Nothing outstanding, but I like it a lot... Brings back memories of my days with Old Man Mo... - Kai said with a kind smile.

As he scanned his surroundings, he suddenly noticed a cave hiding behind the flow of the waterfall. Kai decided that he would stop here for an extended period of time. The beasts in this region were perfect for him to train and develop his bloodline. Therefore, there was no point in going any further.
