Chapter 186 - Volume 2 Chapter 186 - Religion and the Soul

This guy was incredibly calm and confident. The manner in which he replied immediately caught Kai's interest.

'This Lonely Buddha seems to be quite an interesting person... Should I try to get to know him?' - He suddenly thought.

This was exactly what Kai had been thinking about when he spent the first night in his new home. He wanted to build up a good network of acquaintances in the Shadow Sect. And one of the top Personal Disciples was definitely the way to go.

- And you're a pretty outspoken person. - Kai replied.

He didn't familiarise himself or accept attempts to impose himself. Kai wanted to build up a circle of useful acquaintances, but he would never do things that were detrimental to his principles. It's not exactly in Kai's nature to be a sycophant or a sycophant.

- Yes. It seems you are, too. - Lone Buddha calmly replied.

- What do you think? - Kai asked, taking the book from his companion's hands.

- Not bad, although I didn't learn anything new. - Unemotional replied the guy.

- I think I'll be in a similar situation. But I'll read it. - Kai continued smiling.

- Why do you need information about the Spirit Sea? You're only in the Cloud Sphere. - Lone Buddha asked.

He seemed to have some interest in this conversation as well. He even decided to ask a counter question.

- ''You're not in the Star Sphere either you know . Hehe. - Kai jokingly parried.

- That's true. But I'm almost at the top of the Sphere of Attraction. With my talent, I should be able to enter the Star Sphere in a dozen years.'' - Lone Buddha calmly replied.

- Aren't you preparing a little early? Ten years is a long time. Hehe. - Smilingly asked Kai.

- I could ask the same thing. - The bald guy answered calmly.

- Well... It's just that I come from a remote village and I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge. I don't want to look like an idiot. - Kai replied with a big smile.

- Fair enough... The pursuit of knowledge is commendable. Come with me. I'll tell you about it. - Indifferently replied the guy and moved towards the reading areas.

'He's weird... But he seems like a nice guy.... Really I didn't understand what he had to say.' - Kai thought a bit puzzled and followed the bald guy.

This whole situation seemed a little strange to Kai. Probably because the Lonely Buddha had almost no emotions. All of his phrases were not very expressive emotionally. To understand what he was feeling and how he was reacting to your words was very difficult. Besides, this was their first meeting. Kai was just starting to get a feel for this guy's character....

Sitting down, Lonely Buddha waited calmly for Kai, staring at a point in front of him.

Kai didn't delay his new acquaintance and just as quietly sat down across from him. He remained silent and smiled stupidly, waiting for further developments.

After a few seconds, the Lonely Buddha took a deep breath and began to speak.

- ''Spiritual Sea, it's quite a mysterious concept. There are many theories, but no one knows for sure what it is. - In a measured tone, he said.

'Ahh! So that's what it's about! Great, I won't have to read...' - Kai suddenly realised and smiled

Realising that the person he was talking to wanted to tell him what he knew about the Spirit Sea, Kai relaxed a little.

- The name itself resembles the appearance of this Spiritual Sea. It is common knowledge that everyone's Spiritual Sea realm is different. But, the obligatory component, is the peculiar body of water in the centre of this area. - Calmly, the bald guy explained.

'Logical... Earlier, I had also thought about it...' - Listening to his interlocutor, Kai thought.

Thinking back to his Spiritual Sea, Kai realised that there was indeed a body of water that looked like a large lake.

- Basically, it was very vast. Star Sphere Masters described that its scale was comparable to a sea. - Unemotionally, the guy gave out.

''A sea? But mine is much smaller...' - Kai suddenly wondered.

Previously, Kai had never seen the sea and didn't really understand what it looked like... Therefore, he didn't care about the appearance of his Spiritual Sea. It was only when he saw the vast expanse of water near the Shadow Sect that he realised the scale he was talking about....

Although the sea was much smaller than the expanse of water that opened up from his window. But it was definitely thousands of times larger than a mere lake...''

'It seems that although I have opened my Spiritual Sea, it's not comparable to that of the Star Sphere masters... But if one were to consider the concept of cultivation... The moment I move to the Star Sphere, my Spiritual Sea should also expand.' - While listening to Lone Buddha, Kai was concurrently pondering his case.

It was only during the course of the conversation that Kai realised that his Spiritual Sea was not yet complete. Now his ardour had cooled down a little.... He realised that it was pointless to equal even one of his aspects with the masters of the Star Sphere. After absorbing the Astral Sacrifice Fire, Kai was excited about his new ability. Besides, it was not available to his peers. But now, it looked as if he had slightly overestimated himself....

'There's still a lot of work ahead... I need to tamp down my self-confidence a bit...' - With mixed feelings, Kai reflected.

- There is a theory that speaks of your memories and knowledge. It says that they are all stored in the Spiritual Sea. This theory is based on information about the battles of the supreme masters. When one of the opponents was damaged by the Spiritual Sea during a battle, there would be consequences. Severe injuries could lead to madness or amnesia of the master. - The Lone Buddha calmly explained.

'Right... I think there was something like that...' - Kai suddenly thought.

He recalled the moment he absorbed the golden rune of the Astral Alchemy Emperor. Back then, his entire Spiritual Sea had shone, and the waters themselves had absorbed that light! Immediately after, Kai had a new knowledge of Alchemy. It seems that the Spiritual Sea is really related to knowledge and intelligence.....

- There are other theories as well. - After saying that, the guy became strangely silent. It seemed like he was contemplating whether to continue his story.

- What are they? - Kai asked with interest, interrupting his thoughts.

- This might seem strange to most people.... So, just listen to it as a story. How you take it is up to you. - I come from a certain temple. At home, I believe in the Supreme Deity who created the world and gave us all souls. - The Lonely Buddha began to narrate.

- Souls? What do you mean by that? - Kai asked without understanding.

Most of the people in the Shadow Sect's territory were not religious. There was basically no religion in these places. Kai didn't really understand the concept of God and Soul that Lone Buddha was trying to talk about.

- We believe that every living thing has a soul. It is what you have now and will remain even after you die. It is intangible. It is said that when you enter the Spiritual Sea, you see your immaterial projection. In our temple we believe that it is a part of your soul..... And the Spiritual Sea itself is also a part of it. Therefore, it is considered a very important aspect that must be protected. - The Lone Buddha slowly narrated.

From his interlocutor's manner, Kai could see that this concept was very important to him. The Lonely Buddha spoke of it with noticeable respect and awe. Kai truly felt gratitude for this story.

- Wow... Thank you for sharing such intimate information for you. Although I find it hard to believe, I think I understand what you are telling me.... - Kai replied gratefully.

Although it seemed a little illogical and not quite close to his mind. But anyway, the world is too amazing. It holds too many mysteries... Therefore, Kai would not deny any of the potential options without proof. Even though he's seen something like this before...

- I'm grateful for your reaction. In the Shadow Sect, this sort of thing is considered weird. I'm even a little surprised by your response. - The boy calmly replied.

- Is that why they call you the Lonely Buddha? I guess after hearing your stories, everyone just runs away! Hahaha. - Laughing loudly, Kai gave out a snide remark.

'Damn! I'm at it again...' - Instantly exclaimed Kai in his mind.

Kai's humour was slightly peculiar and could quietly offend the person he was talking to. On the whole, Kai didn't care about that. But at the beginning of the conversation, he decided to be more courteous to this guy and not plug his banter into the matter. But upon hearing the Lonely Buddha's retort, Kai couldn't resist his comment....
