Chapter 139 - Volume 1 Chapter 139 - The Development of Regeneration - Excruciating Torture

As he swam, Kai continued to talk about his new ideas. Though he was no longer delving into them headfirst.

"I wonder why there is no mention anywhere even close to mentioning that the human body works based on three different systems? Although... Like I thought before, a human's bloodline might just be too weak to develop... Kessia's bloodline might develop as a whole separate system. But I haven't heard of humans being able to realise such a thing..." - Floating on his back and looking up at the ceiling of the cave, Kai reasoned.

All martial artists focused on developing their Energy Centre and energy. There were people like Fashur who had strong bodies. But all of that, was also based on energy. Even the wild beasts in the Boundless Wasteland cultivated strength based on energy rather than body....

"There are still a lot of things I don't understand... But having obtained a bloodline that I can develop, as well as the Spiritual Sea... I can now definitely say that they are completely separate systems that even develop in parallel... Only, what to do with the Spiritual Sea and how to develop the spirit is unclear." - Kai continued to speculate.

He had discovered his Spiritual Sea by accident. It was through being able to absorb the Astral Fire of Sacrifice. And that wasn't the only thing that played a role... That fire that Kai had absorbed contained a huge amount of souls of Astral Fire Sect members. It seemed that all of this had resulted in such a result.

Kai knew that the Spiritual Sea was not something unknown. But only masters at high cultivation stages could open it. Except, right now, Kai didn't even know what realm lay beyond the Cloud Sphere.....

"I'll stick to the old plan for now... I need to absorb the King of Pain and the King of Terror, then break through to the Cloud Sphere afterwards. It's good that along the way, I'll deepen my understanding of the bloodline and the development of this strange impulse. If it's possible of course..." - Kai thought and started to swim towards the shore.

Although he had gained many new ideas, now was not the time for them. He had specific issues to deal with. He would start by trying to control those impulses and direct them to specific points.

He decided that if he succeeded in doing that, he would practice outside of Asura Hell. When things started to work out, he would rush into the domain of the King of Pain. There he would confront the red mist with maximum efficiency.

.......

After Kai finished all his chores, he sat down not far from the burning fire and took out his dagger. Extending his palm forward, he slashed the blade across it.

"Eyes of Essence" - Kai thought to himself and activated his ability.

He concentrated completely on his hand and the pulses in it. He saw strange waves of what looked like small lightning bolts in structure moving through his flesh. They literally began to flood his entire arm from palm to elbow. Blood rushed there as well.

- Hmm... Just like in the domain of the King of Pain... Too much momentum is being wasted to nowhere. We need to direct it only to the cut. But how do I do that? - Kai said to himself.

Kai realised that he had to use only his body. That impulse, that's the core and foundation of the flesh system. If one was to learn how to control it, it was best not to get involved with the other aspects. Thinking about it, Kai blocked any manifestation of the Energy Centre and the Spiritual Sea.

- So... If it has to do with the flesh. Then the impulses must also be controlled with the body. - Reasoned aloud to Kai.

Thus, Kai continued to sit for hours... When a cut healed, he would apply a new one. He even tried doing it in different parts of his body. But when he realised there was no difference, he continued experimenting on his palm. It was the easiest part of the body to observe.

Kai watched intently as the pulses travelled up his arm. They were also in all other parts of his body, but in a calmer state and in smaller quantities. When a cut appeared, all the pulses would go into an excited state and rush towards the wound.

At that moment, Kai moved his fingers slightly. He watched every movement and reaction of the body.

- This is it!!! - Suddenly, Kai shouted out.

A realisation was finally starting to come to him.... When he moved a part of his body, very fast impulses travelled through his muscles. It was as if they were the ones giving the command to move!

- Damn... But how... - Kai cursed, and scratched the back of his head.

He didn't really understand at what point this signal appeared. When he thought of the action, or when the right muscles contracted?

"This system seems to work in symbiosis with my thoughts and body. When I want to move a part of my body, an impulse comes through and the muscles contract. How do I learn to control it on such a subtle level?" - Reasoned Kai in his mind.

He was beginning to understand the principle of how to control this process. Except it was very easy to make the normal movements, but getting the momentum to concentrate in one place... Easier said than done!

"Okay I'll try..." - Kai thought and started to practice.

Kai chose a strategy that wasn't very intricate. He would have to learn to control his body more carefully, every muscle in it. If he learnt to contract different parts of his body separately, then in theory he would be able to direct the impulses there.

Now, looking at his hand, Kai was not moving a finger, but a small part of the muscle.

"That does seem to make sense..." - Kai thought, watching the process.

......

A few days later, Kai sat in undisguised delight!

- Body control is better than it was! When I trained with Master Mo, I also tempered my flesh. Except I couldn't feel it so finely! - With a smile, Kai said.

Over the past few days, he had noticed another factor that he hadn't paid attention to. After receiving the Kessia bloodline, the control over his body had become many times better. It was just that previously, it hadn't even occurred to him to check such a thing. Was there any point in sitting down and individually contracting his muscles?

But now, he was even more certain that the bloodline, momentum and flesh, were a separate system. And by obtaining a strong bloodline, Kai was given the opportunity to develop it.

In the last training session, Kai had some success. He had reduced the regeneration area from half of his hand to the palm of his hand. Indeed, then the regeneration speed increased while taking less momentum.

- Alright, I think it's safe to head to Asura's Hell. Hardening in the domain of the King of Pain would be much more effective than looking at the palm.

Now that Kai understood the general principle, he needed to put it into practice and reinforce it. And this could only be achieved by hard work and endless training.

In the gorge, he would have to heal himself in several places at once. The destructive power of the fog was incredible. What it left behind was not a cut with a blade, but a massive wound that was both inside and outside. At the same time, some wounds were not homogeneous, they affected an entire area.

It was under such extreme conditions that one would be able to progress at a tremendous speed. Pain was not something Kai was afraid of.

"What's wrong with my development? I'm constantly floundering from strategy to strategy... But what can I do, in my situation, I need to be flexible..." - Thought Kai, shaking his head sadly.

This thought came to him as he decided that he would once again train endlessly in Asura's Hell without developing Energy Vortex. Developing energy at this point wouldn't help, it would only take up time.

Since time was running short, Kai wanted to develop his body faster and absorb the King of Pain. Only then would it be possible to return to break through to the Cloud Sphere. There would also still be one last King left... the King of Terror!

- Let's begin! - Said Kai as he sat in the lotus posture.

He closed his eyes and began to rotate the Invisible King Torture Technique.
