Chapter 114 - Vol. 1 Chapter 114 - Backstage Games

These two were very angry right now, but they couldn't do anything about it. They realised that if things continued like this, the Trade and Research Union would crush them. And given all their conflicts, it was unlikely that they would just be left alone. Diso was not known for his mercy in the Border Beast City. He was known as someone who was kind with his friends, but ruthless with his enemies.

- Bitch! If things continue like this...'' Tandu said through clenched teeth.

- Don't be angry... My gut tells me that this kid must know something. From what I can tell, that fatso trusts him completely. There's something about this Kai I don't like. - Said Fashur, while squeezing the girl's breasts.

- What do you suggest? In the Border Beast City, we are entirely restricted to... Tz! - Irritatedly clucking his tongue, said Tandu.

- That's true. But he will definitely come out at some point. Or we'll provoke this situation ourselves... Either way, we have to wait. When we catch him, we can make a huge profit. If we hold him hostage in the Boundless Wasteland and threaten the fatty...'' The stout man said with a vicious smile.

- Hehehe... Then we can control the bastard Diso and get all their influence in our hands! Hahaha. - The cheerful Tandu laughed loudly.

- Yes. In the meantime, let's wait... Let's have a drink! - Shouted the man, and raised his glass!

- I agree! Cheers! - Tandu cheered with a smile.

While all this was going on, Kai didn't realise that he was already a target. But he didn't really care about that. He had an incredible amount of work to do right now. Because of the hype upstairs, he was constantly busy.

He was either creating pills, or studying books, or answering customers' questions and prescribing the ingredients he needed. Now he specified names that were understandable to his contemporaries. Many of the ingredients Kai had already learnt and memorised by heart.

He also brought out some new nuances for himself. Although the general system of alchemy was much weaker than in ancient times. Still, the contemporaries were able to build up their own unique ideas.

Nothing drastically changed for Kai, but his understanding of alchemy became even more complete.

Thus time gradually flowed, and Kai's skills became more and more solid and adapted to the modern system. Things were even hotter upstairs....

The power and influence of the Trade and Research Union was growing and growing. The auction had become one of the important events of the Border Beast City. Now, all influential powers were trying to get in.

But now, invitations were selectively issued. Sometimes, forces that were not at the top of the city but had good relations with the alliance could get in. Therefore, more and more people began to ingratiate themselves with Diso, trying to form a good relationship with him.

In two months, a huge number of influential people were helped by the Alchemy Master of the Trade and Research Union. Sometimes, he would solve problems that no one in the city could solve.

And what surprised everyone the most was that the Alchemy Organisation was completely fine with it. It hadn't started any action towards suppressing the competitors. This made one think that the Trade and Research Union, had their support as well.

Too many amazing things were happening lately. Diso had literally become a new celebrity. He was young, but he had already managed to nurture such an organisation. And all the findings suggested that he would wield impressive influence for a long time to come.

Many realised it was better to strike while the iron was hot. You have to form friendships while you can. There was a chance that in a few years, many of them wouldn't even be able to come close to running the Trade and Research Union.

There was another topic that was being quietly discussed in the highest circles....

Even the allies were interested in knowing and understanding the core strength of the Trade and Research Union. Because of this, there were now a great many people sniffing around for any possible information. Right up to the moment of Diso's first arrival in the city, and even his past in the Moon Shine Empire.

In this whole story, there was only one strange nuance that was falling out of the puzzle. That was the so-called Councillor Kai.

Many now knew that Diso had arrived here with him. It was Kai who had mined the first trading post, providing the initial stability for the future alliance. But that wasn't all... The entire Trade and Research Alliance Council was made up of the people Kai had gone on the first mission with, which was strange. Up until that moment, Diso had no connection with them....

It was clear where the connection was here. But examining the history of the Trade and Research Union, it was obvious that the development of the organisation rested entirely on the shoulders of Diso and the Council. They were the ones who had made the greatest contribution to their formation. Kai was not visible in this scheme at all. This inconsistency was what puzzled anyone interested. It was impossible to outwit all the forces of the city, it was simply unrealistic to pull this off.....

Although this Kai disappeared for a year and a half, he made a fabulous comeback. It was at that moment that the new rise of the Trade and Research Alliance began. He was the only unpredictable variable. So, now many people started making different assumptions.

Things got even more confusing when people started digging into him and realised... There was no information!

It became unclear who he was, where he came from, what he was. The only thing that was roughly clear was that he also came from the Moon Shine Empire. The story of the local lord's banquet and recruitment by General Lukius had also been sniffed out long ago. But alas, that didn't clear up anything either....

- Ehhh... Done! Hehe. - With a smile, Kai said while looking at the ten green pills.

This was the last order he had decided to fulfil. He was now completely confident in his abilities.

A few days ago, he had sent a messenger to the Alchemist Organisation to take all the books to the library. Now theory and practice were finally in balance.

Diso in turn had also warned the public that for now, their Master Alchemist would cease his public activities. Over the past two months, all of this had translated into incredible growth for the Trade and Research Union. In addition to influence, they had earned a huge amount of rare items and ingredients. Every single one of them was given as payment by grateful customers.

"Right... I need to rest for a day and then tackle the Invisible Kings Torture Technique... I haven't yet tried out the increase in my strength after absorbing the Kessia bloodline. Perhaps it's time for a gradual absorption of Kings?" - Seriously pondered Kai.

After the situation with Kessia, he definitely felt that he had become stronger, especially his body. But alas, he didn't have time to test it. Now that he had finished things with the craft of alchemy, Kai wanted to get back to what attracted him the most. Martial arts practices!

"If I push myself, I might be able to break through to the Cloud Sphere at the age of 14..." - Contemplating his plans, Kai pondered.

It had already been quite some time since he had escaped from the Astral Grad. In about half a year, Kai would turn 14. Although no one had any idea about it, as they perceived him as a 17-18 year old man.

If he managed to reach the Cloud Sphere anytime soon, it would be amazing. He had once been told at Lord Flick's banquet that those who joined the Shadow Sect had to be in the Cloud Sphere and no older than 17 years old.

He would definitely fulfil all the criteria, so he would have to try his best. Kai wanted to become stronger quickly and fulfil his promises to Master Mo. And he already knew his next step. Namely... Shadow Sect!

But for now, he still had a lot of things to do in Border Beast City. Oh, and there was no clear understanding of what the mechanism for joining the Shadow Sect was.

"Alright, it's too early to think about it for now... There are more realistic tasks." - Thinking about it, Kai stood up and headed towards the exit of the Source Tower.

Today he wanted to rest easy, after two months of non-stop work.
