Looking at Tanda walking away, Kai realized that it wasn't going to end that easily. If he overpowered himself with such difficulty to just talk to him, then what would he say to his refusal?
"Probably need to be careful in the wasteland in the near future... Since he failed to recruit me, I remain a potential competitor for him. He may want to nip the problem in the bud by not giving me time to develop." - Thought to himself Kai.
"Hehe, but you're probably underestimating me, which could be a mistake for you... Well we'll see, if you don't provoke me, then we'll keep a cold neutrality." - Kai summarized in his thoughts and started looking around.
- The others had finally bailed too... I didn't come up with such a good excuse for nothing, hehehe. - Laughing Kai said to himself.
Kai had a very good sense of smell, which was further enhanced by the Fury King's energy lately, and he could feel all those looks on his face and only played it off as nonchalance.
- Well fatty, I've provided us with some peace of mind at first. Plus with this conversation I finally shifted all the focus to me, now you can trade in peace. - Kai said with a smile.
- Brother, what about you? - Even though Diso was drunk, he understood what was going on here.
- Don't worry, at most I might cause some trouble in the wasteland, but I don't think they'll take it seriously right away. They'll decide to test my strength first, so you don't have to worry.'' - Kai replied calmly.
- Ehhh, it was clear from the start that we won't be calm, especially with your methods of action. Hahah. - Diso laughed.
- Fatty, don't choke on it. - After exchanging phrases they continued to rest.
Kai was now completely relaxed and began to really enjoy the evening, as before he didn't have much of an appetite. He had already anticipated this situation, which was why he had deliberately chosen an establishment with outdoor seating, so that with one conversation he could give an answer to all those who were interested, since in an open space many could watch from afar.
Tonight the ritual of pushing a drunken body into a room was repeated. It could be considered to be the second time in twenty-four hours. Kai was even beginning to think that he was becoming a drunk... Though with his body, alcohol couldn't have a detrimental effect on him at all because of his regenerative abilities and energy.
Since morning, at sunrise, Kai had already said goodbye to Lady Shiho and left the dormitory. He had warned Diso even yesterday that he would most likely be going to the Quest Hall early and would be gone for a while.
He didn't wake the fat man to say goodbye, for that would have been bullying, so he just left quietly. Kai didn't know how long he would be gone, but he didn't really care. He could count on Diso and he wasn't afraid to leave him alone.
With a calm step, Kai headed to the main square to the Tower of the Source, since all the main administrative buildings were there, including the Hall of Quest. As he walked he felt that there were still a few people who were still following him. But most likely they were spies from the intelligence networks of the various alliances, and they were just gathering information. It was unlikely that they were here to cause trouble. That was the norm in the Border Beast City, it was just that no one was interested in Kai before.
After an hour of time, Kai finally made it to the Tower of the Source and walked around it looking for the Quest Hall.
Looking around he saw various huge buildings. The signs read:
Beast Auction House, Alchemy Hall, Law and Order, Food Bureau, Miracle Shop, Beast Theater, and others. There seemed to be an offer for every taste... Shops, Auctions, an association of Alchemists, Masters of the Array, Blacksmiths, and more.
- Truly a Great City! - Kai said to himself while marveling at the grandeur of the Border Beast City.
At this moment, he finally saw a huge sign that read Task Hall. It seemed to have been written with a giant brush, and the lines of ink were so perfect that they seemed to be the work of a master calligrapher. The entire building seemed to be lined with wood, and there was a lot of greenery, with beds of ornamental plants and flowers everywhere, and there was also a lot of lighting, with glowing stones. The building was just marvelous!
- Wow, really marvelous. The whole building looks like it was done with artistic taste, it looks like it was painted by some artist! - Kai's breath caught as he looked at the Quest Hall, he really liked its facade as it stood out from the rest of the city.
Kai slowly began to walk inside, there were no lines like the Food Bureau. Once inside Kai saw an interior that looked like a large library that was divided into six levels. In the center of the Quest Hall was a huge tree whose crown was at the height of the sixth floor, if you went up the stairs there, you would be level with the top of the leaves.
"Mesmerizing!" - Exclaimed Kai in his head.
Each level was around the perimeter of the building, and in some places there were stairs leading to a higher floor. Also on the walls were what looked like bookshelves that were divided into squares, creating separate cells, in each of them lay a scroll, and a small piece of paper with text.
Looking at it Kai realized that it was most likely an assignment scroll. When you take it out of the box and leave the building, it is automatically assigned to you. So when you went into the Quest Hall, you could choose your own mission and leave quietly to complete it. But what kind of regulation is there? Kai was a little confused.
Looking around, he saw a stand around a tree where several workers were standing, sometimes explaining something to the visitors. Kai started walking towards them.
- Hello, I'm sorry, I have a question. - Kai said politely.
A girl quickly walked up to him and said.
- Welcome! Ask your question, it's my job to answer them, hahaha. - Saying warmly, the girl laughed.
- I'm new, and I don't quite understand the rules of the Quest Hall, could you explain it to me briefly? - Asked Kai with a smile.
- New? But you're a third ranker. Do you just like me and are you looking for an excuse to talk to me? - The girl smiled coquettishly, seeming to have just that kind of demeanor.
Listening to her, Kai smiled awkwardly, as it really did seem strange that a third rank master was asking about the rules of the Quest Hall.
- Hehehe, it just so happened that I defeated someone before I could take the first task, and now this is the situation. - Kai said with a smile.
- Alright, still I can't deny a visitor an answer, hee-hee. - The girl laughed. She seemed quite light-hearted.
- Look, our Quest Hall is divided into six levels. Each level corresponds to a master's rank, the first floor is for the first, and the sixth floor is for people from the Glory Ranking. You can go to the third floor, but if you try to go up to the fourth floor, the array won't let you through, because your ID card says you're a third-ranked master! - With a smile, the girl explained.
- That is, even if you want to, you will simply be stopped by an energy barrier. It is forbidden to break through by force, if you don't want to get into trouble, hee-hee. - Laughing said the girl.
- What if I want to take some missions? - Asked Kai.
- You can't do that either! You have the right to only one task, until you complete it, you can not take another. If the task is failed and you can't do it anymore, you have to come back to us and pay a fine. But if it failed through no fault of your own, you can just take a new one after you notify us. - Said the girl.
- If you want to go out with more than one scroll, the same thing will happen as when you try to visit a floor that is not allowed for you. That's it, just two rules. Take only one quest, and take it on the floors you're allowed. Is there anything else I can do for you? - The girl explained with a smile.
- Thank you very much for the information. No further questions. - Kai said with a smile and went to the racks where the assignments were placed.
He couldn't wait to choose something suitable and go to the wasteland!
