I didn't know if I could trust them or not, but I didn't give a shit. I mean it's not like I have something to lose or anything. It's not like there was someone waiting for me or I had anyone that was going to cry bitterly if anything happened to me so I just followed them blindly.

Something about the way he said it sent chills down my spine. But before I could dwell on it, he blurted out again. "You nervous? You should be", leaning in and, flashing his fangs for me to see. "It's not every day you get to become a man in this family."
He chuckled and I frowned. "I thought this ritual was just some tradition," I asked him, trying to downplay my anxiety. "What's the big deal?"
