Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

The Nameless Wolf:

"It was probably her fault." I heard Ryan mutter as he walked toward my room. "The Alpha saw the fucking runt. He's changed his demeanor since."

I didn't say a word as I kept my eyes on the clothes that I was ironing. And it wasn't until the door slammed open, making my heart drop, as Ryan and Luna Amelia walked into my room.

Ryan grabbed me by my throat, not caring that I had a hot iron on the table in front of me, before pinning me against the table. His eyes were fixed on me, and I shook my head, fearing what was to come. The man could easily hurt me, he wouldn't care about my life anyway, and with the Luna's support, they could easily hide that from anyone.

"What the fuck did you tell him?" He asked, pulling my hair. He raised me a little before slamming my head down against the table. The iron, which was hot, lost balance and fell two inches away from my face, touching a strand of my hair. My lips quivered and he let out a low growl. "Speak or I am going to fucking use that iron to burn your face."

"I didn't tell him anything. I told him that I was lost, that is all I said." I said, shaking my head, fearing that he would do as he told. He growled and pulled me up to him, making my heart race as the Luna, my mother, closed the door, leaving the two of us alone, leaving him to deal with me. To torment me as he pleased.

I heard her leave and I had to fight back a sob as he grabbed my chin from behind, digging his nails inside my skin. "You ruined this agreement for me. I don't know how you fucking did it, but I know for fact that it was you."

"I didn't, I swear. I didn't…" I shook my head, and he scoffed before he pushed me toward the table. My eyes widened as I fell, dropping it with me. The iron fell on my hand, and I screamed as it burned my skin before pulling my shaking hand away. It was going to leave a mark, that was something that I knew. Ryan glared at me and leaned down to grab me again, only this time, I acted on impulse and grabbed the iron, not caring about the pain that I felt before hitting his face with it. His eyes widened in surprise as he screamed. His wail of pain was so loud that I could hear the pack members running toward the room. I knew that it was the one chance that I had. If not, I was going to be dead.

I looked at the window behind me, it was open because of the laundry. I ran out of it, thankful for my small size for the first time in my life. My heart raced and the pain in my hand made it harder for me to focus, but I knew that it was the one chance that I had.

"She did it! Go and catch her, she ran out this fucking window." I heard him yell at whoever he was talking to. And that was when instinct took over my sense of rationalism. I ran as fast as my feet could carry me, choosing to go through the woods. Leaving through them meant that I could easily enter different grounds, escaping the pack. Worst case scenario, the Alpha of a different pack, if any, would have me killed. That would still be a better option than having to deal with Ryan and the now raging pack members.

Run! The voice cried in my head. RUN!

I ran faster than I knew that I ever could, and it wasn't until my feet could no longer carry me, when it was too dark for me to see, when I couldn't find my footing or my grounds, that I dropped. My heart raced against my ribcage to the point where I feared that it would explode.

"If it did, I would be dead. I believed that it was a lot better than the fate that I would be living through with the pack that should have been called my home." I whispered, voicing out my thoughts as I tried to ignore the thumping sound that I heard in my ears.

I sat by a tree, leaning my back against it, knowing that I was no longer followed. At least, I couldn't hear them if I was. It was the only blessing that I had. My hearing, which was that of a wolf. I didn't even have one, I wasn't called the runt of the pack for no reason. I didn't even have a wolf to as the others did. I wasn't one of them, I was simply a disgrace to those who saw me.

I wrapped my hand around my wrist, holding my burned right hand to my chest as I tried to find a way to think. I cried at the feeling, it hurt, and it still felt like fire was burning through my skin, tearing it down. The pain reminded me that I was alive, but this was not the way that I wanted to know.

A sound of a crack took me off guard, and I frowned as I looked around, trying to follow the source. I didn't speak, fearing that I would stir whoever it was.

A heavy settled in my chest as I tried to blend in with the tree trunk. My dress was now smudged with mud, sticks, and leaves. It still looked ten times better than the old rag that I was allowed to wear. The one dress that my mother ever bought me as a new one, and even that was worn out from wearing it every day. I would barely take it off every other day when I slept, choosing to freeze as I lay on the haystack that I called a bed as it dried for the next morning.

Sometimes it was completely dry by the time I was awake. Others, I was forced to wear it while wet, enduring the cold weather in the house as the AC hit my body as I walked from one room to the next, cleaning, cooking, or ironing clothes. Whichever one of the duties headmistress Jane saw fit for me to do that day.

A low growl took me by surprise, and my heart raced against my chest. I got up from the floor, ignoring the ache that I felt in my legs. I stood, trying to trace the sound, where it came from, but I couldn't. Whoever it was, they were watching me from a distance, or if they were walking toward me, it was very careful and slow, making sure that I didn't hear them.

It wasn't until an arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me back as I tried to move, that I cried out. I screamed, thrashing in the arms of the person, and taking sight of his rings, I knew that it was Ryan. The man pushed me to the ground. I braced myself for impact, but when my hand touched the floor, I cried out in pain as the burning sensation made my eyes well up in tears. I turned around to face my brother just as he approached me, his expression deadly. My eyes met his raging brown one, half his face, including his left eye, was burned with the iron.

"You are so fucking dead. Only I am going to be sure that you fucking beg to die." He said, and I shook my head as I tried to move away from him, fearing what was to come. I knew that he would have no mercy over me. I had no one to keep me safe to begin with. My own mother wouldn't mind seeing me dead. I was the reminder of her pain, the agony that she had suffered that night. The agony that she suffered giving birth to me…

"Please, no." I whimpered, and growled before grabbing me by my throat. He raised me to stand it wasn't until we heard another growl, one from a distance, then another, and another. My heart dropped. Not only were we on different grounds, but these were Alpha and beta growls. Ryan looked at me and smirked, letting me go. My body dropped as I coughed, trying to catch my breath.

"They are going to enjoy this kill. Might as well leave you to them." He said, and I shook my head. "At least, I would know that we were finally rid of the runt of the pack."

He grabbed a piece of my dress, ripping it, and I shook my head, trying to crawl away as he took a step back. He ran, leaving me to deal with whoever it was that approached me. However, it wasn't until my eyes met his blue ones that my body completely dropped, forgetting the urge to run.

"You…"

"Get him…"
