Bipin could still feel the adrenaline rushing inside him as he watched Nakul and Aditi drive off in a live visual feed on his mobile.
"Well done" he muttered after turning his Bluetooth earpiece off. He never wanted his agents to know he was proud of them.
The clock in his office chimed two times and he was brought back to the present situation from Dubai.
He checked his email to confirm the date, time and place of the meeting.
In an hour, he sat in a hallway, drops of sweat clouding on his forehead.
The cuckoo cooed thrice. Bipin took a sip from the plastic cup before heading inside the room.
He entered the dull grey room, scanning it.
He saw a camera on a tripod, a cooler kept facing two men, a table with two chairs on one side and one on the other.
The paint had worn off the walls in that room and cobwebs decorated the corners.
Bipin sat on the table whose dominant end was occupied by two senior officers, who seemed to be judging Bipin just by his body language.
The two officers shook hands with Bipin, introducing themselves,
"Myself Raj Mehta, the Head of the Army's Finance Management. And this is my deputy, Gajendra Yadav."
"Bipin Chaudhary, Head Officer Research and Analysis Wing, also known as R&AW."
Raj clicked a button on a small remote in his hand and the camera on the tripod started recording.
"So, Bipin, if I may call you that, we've come here to this government inquiry for a certain reason. You have spent a lot of the government funds you receive into financing local businesses in Dubai, Rio De Janeiro, Monte Carlo, Athens and Istanbul. You may want to continue ahead."
"Continue what, Sir?" Replied a composed Bipin.
"Why were you funding those local businesses from the government's pocket, Bipin?"
"I saw a profit in those companies and I did what any investor would do. Research and Invest."
"A profit of money?" Asked deputy Mr Gajendra Yadav
"And National Security" Bipin added.
"Please Elaborate, Mr Bipin. We don't tolerate abrupt answers here."
"Sir, these companies will not only save us a lot of money but they will also be a boost to our national security."
"I want the details, Bipin" Raj Mehta said, putting both of his hands on the table, trying to assert dominance.
"Sorry, Sir. Anything related to National Security cannot be discussed at will." Bipin replied putting his set of hands on the table.
A brief moment of eye contact passed between Raj and Bipin. None of them was willing to back down from the staring contest. Finally, Mr Yadav spoke "So, Mr Bipin, we have a heard you have a unique angle on the 2003 ISRO attack? Would you please explain that to us?"
Bipin leaned back, removed his rectangular glasses and began;
