After returning to the pavilion, I saw
Melody's eyes glued to the stadium. I glanced over, and there Darwin was, hands
in the sky as he was victorious against his opponent. I really wanted to see
him in action but I guess fate decided it wasn't my time yet. As everyone's
matches passed I gained a lot of knowledge. Seeing how they used their magic
inspired me. The gadgets I could conjure were starting to be more creative as
each time I saw my classmates try their best. "Your match with Hiro was amazing
not gonna lie." I looked around and it was Ellie approaching me.
"It definitely wasn't easy. Hiro pushed me to
my limit." "You did the same to him. I've never seen him enjoy a fight like
that. I know he's going to learn a lot and improve a lot, so thanks, Kaiser." Her
innocent smile faded after the match finished. "I guess it's about that time."
She stared down Melody intensely. "I won't be holding back so try to make this interesting."
She walked confidently down the stairs with her game face on. then announced
that the final sparring segment would be Melody and Ellie. I wondered how she
was able to tell since she was absent from the matches but all that I could
tell was that Melody would be going up against a tough foe.
Melody made her way to the stadium. I could
tell by how she walked that she was locked in. The battle started and before
she a breath could escape from Melody, vines grew the ground pursuing her. "Dice!"
Immediately all the vines were sliced into many pieces. "Keep it up, Melody!"
Darwin shouted for encouragement. Melody then closed the gap, trying to land a
hit on Ellie, but each attempt failed. "Fall!" Suddenly, Ellie fell to her
knees as Melody approached her.
Melody then placed both of her hands on
Ellie's face and then calmly said, "Scramble." Ellie's eyes rolled back and she
fell to the ground unconscious. The winner of the match was Melody. I could not
help myself from crying. It was such an amazing fight. I rushed towards her and
hugged her tightly. "Did I do good?" she asked. "You did great." After my
response, she demonstrated the cutest smile I've ever seen. That feeling I felt
on the first day of school returned, and this time, it was stronger.
I helped her up the stairs since she
exhausted herself and gently put her in her seat. "I can't believe how strong
you are Melody," Darwin stated in awe. "You should let her relax," I suggested.
Our teachers commended us all and told us to spend the rest of the day how we
wanted. While Darwin and Melody chose to hang out until school finished, I
decided to head to the gym. The main reason was to burn off what little energy
I had left but there was another reason. I couldn't stop picturing Melody's
smile in my head.
"You should be resting." "I'll rest after I
am done." I could hear a back-and-forth coming from the gym. In an attempt to
conceal my presence, I decided to walk slowly and peaked into the room. "Hiro,
you got badly injured in your fight. You should still be in that bed resting!"
she scolded. "No! I had the advantage over him. All he had were fancy gadgets
and I can literally cause explosions. How was he able to beat me?" He cried
out. "His family are adventurers. His mom is also a royal guard, plus he is half
demon. You don't know what power he could be hiding." she explained. "Still! I
don't ever want to lose so I must push myself till I either win or I can't
move."
I decided to butt in by saying, "Training is
important but you need balance." Their attention was now mine. "You may have a
very powerful ability but you still didn't think it through." He pierced my soul
with his fiery gaze. "So you came to thrash talk me, huh. I'll show you right
now that I can beat you." The air began heating up so badly that Ellie could
hardly breathe. Immediately, I used my speed and restrained him and conjured anti-magic
handcuffs on him.
After pinning him down, I went towards Ellie
and gave her some water. "Uncuff me now or I'll end you!" he threatened. I
kneeled down, looked him straight in the eye and then released all of my mana. The
tremendous amount and intensity rendered him speechless. "Now you listen to me!
I couldn't care less if you attacked me but you put your own friend in danger;
you'll be the one in danger if you keep that up. I wasn't even going to thrash
talk you, hothead. I was simply giving you advice on how to make yourself
stronger but you won't even listen!" I snapped. I then used my magic to make a
key and dropped it on the floor next to him. I then walked away and left him
shocked to the core.
After calming down, I used my magic to detect
Melody and Darwin. I slowly walked there but someone stopped me. "You handled that
issue pretty well but I have never seen you get angry like that before, Kai. What
happened in there?" She was the most popular girl in our class, you can even say
our year. He amethyst hair blew in the breeze causing her smooth and silky face
to be revealed. "What is your name again?" I sarcastically asked.
"Such a great sense of humor from the tinka tinkerer."
She joked about. "What do you want from me Anna Welchman!" I said irritated. "Why
don't you help me train. Your mom and dad could really help me control my mana."
"Oh is the high and mighty begging me for a favor." I mockingly stated. She shook
her head and she pinched me in the ear. "Your testing your luck here, Kai. Give
me an answer and stop wasting my time!" I reluctantly said I'd ask my parents and
she immediately went back to being a chill person. "Bye bye!" She started skipping
away.
