"We are not safe anymore, Stillwort," Herschel murmured. "If Kael could kill Vander, it means no member of Kishadel is safe."
Stillwort moved his eyes away from the door and settled them on the fireplace. "We both know Vander had it coming when he touched Kael's bride. The girl is protected by Kael now, and anyone who touches her would have to face him."
"Hm," Herschel hummed, rubbing his hand on his forehead. "I'm really confused... if Valerie shifted the mark, why is Kael still protecting the girl?"
Stillwort moved his eyes up, now staring at Herschel. "Isn't that for you to find out? Make your research, just as you did when Kael marked the girl first."
Herschel locked his gaze with the man, both now staring at each other unblinkingly. "But you almost suspected me earlier in front of Lucia."
