Jacquelyn tried to turn to the side, but the sharp pain in her chest pinned her down. When she opened her eyes, she screamed out in agony. Her entire body felt like it was on fire, and she couldn't contain the ache in her chest, especially the throbbing pain in her head.
"Shut up!" Valerie bellowed, moving to strike Jacquelyn again but then suddenly pausing, as if she had a change of mind. She rubbed her fingers slowly over her lips and smiled.
"Well… if it's cries of pain, then I guess it's better than your stupid smile." Valerie clapped her hands happily, then turned to look at Vander, who was busy talking to his underlings. "Are you not ready yet?"
