Chapter 142 - Outcast

Jacquelyn stood beside Iva, and from the girl's reactions, she could tell that whatever relationship Iva had with her mother or ex-mother was not a good one. There was this tension between them that Jacquelyn could feel, even without hearing them speak. She wanted to know more about the family, as Iva didn't look anything like Lady Julia. But it wasn't her place to be nosy and ask around; she only listened to what people felt comfortable telling her.

Being pushy and too inquisitive could be very annoying, and Jacquelyn knew that. She liked to be friends with people, but she never crossed certain lines. Now that she was thinking about it, the members of the Kishadel were somehow related in one way or another. It was like a big family with extended secrets, and Jacquelyn knew it wasn't just any secret. She shifted her attention to Lady Julia.
