Jacquelyn's hands were trembling, but when she saw the annoyance in Kael's eyes, she stopped moving back and allowed him to come closer. When he did, she saw his hand stretch forward. She swallowed hard, wiping her sweaty hand on her dress before placing her palm in Kael's larger one.
"Are you leaving already?" Iva ran after them. "You didn't kill him as promised," the young girl said, her eyes moving from Kael to Jacquelyn, who was staring at her feet.
Kael raised his brows. "Never said I'd kill him," he replied with an innocent smile. "But you did great work, even better than most members of Kishadel. Find time to visit Morville Castle." Without saying another word, Kael turned and left the room, holding Jacquelyn close to him.
