Chapter 82 - Heartbeat

Kael had been sitting beside Jacquelyn's bed, watching the girl sleep peacefully. His eyes moved down to her small face, unable to hold back. His fingers traced her features, and she hummed in approval, leaning closer to his touch. She was a beauty to behold. Her small, curvy lips, slightly parted, made Kael remember the kiss they'd shared. And her eyes, though closed, were like crescent moons. The girl was just meant for him.

As morning came, Kael left the room through the window. He returned to the library in search of anything he could find relating to the mark. He needed to be prepared for these new feelings that now overwhelmed him. In the past, he had always enjoyed being alone, and now, suddenly, having the strong need to keep the girl beside him was overwhelming, even for him.
