Chapter 71 - Sisters

Jacquelyn's breath hitched involuntarily when someone slipped something into her hand. She didn't know who it was because of the small crowd that had now gathered around her. But the last time she was given something like this, it wasn't meant for good. Raising her face immediately to be sure Kael didn't see her, she saw him leaving the room. Jacquelyn exhaled. All she had to do was read the contents when she was alone, and that wouldn't be a problem. She dipped her hand inside her dress pocket and left the parchment there.

She slipped out of the dining room, running after Kael, but halted midway, now standing all alone in the hallway.
