The following day, Jacquelyn didn't wake up until it was mid-morning. She was so tired from the previous day's activities that she had to sleep deeply. When she finally did wake up, the girl felt even more refreshed, her blue eyes darting around the room as her brain tried to remember where she was.
"Grisie?" Jacquelyn called out the woman's name. "Grisie, did you let me sleep because..." Her eyes moved down to look at the shirt she was wearing. That was when Jacquelyn remembered that for the past few days, she hadn't been living in the same house as Griselda. Though she tried to move on since the woman had lied to her, deceiving her for so many years, Griselda had played a great part in her life.
When others called her cursed, it was only the woman who stood beside her, ready to protect her at all costs, even if it meant lying.
