Jacquelyn sat inside the house with her hands placed on her lap. She tried her best to act normal, like she wasn't afraid of anything, but it wasn't working. Ever since she found out that things weren't actually as they seemed, she was scared of looking closely, afraid of what she'd find out.
"How long have you been married to your husband?" the man asked, staring at Jacquelyn.
This was the first question they had asked her since Kael stepped out to talk to Chaos. So far, Jacquelyn hadn't seen anything weird or spooky, and she was grateful for that. This way, she'd be able to hold on until Kael came back.
But now they were asking her questions, and she really didn't want to indulge.
"Are you shy?" he asked again.
Jacquelyn bit her lips, adjusting on her chair calmly. She didn't want her fear to be noticed by these people, or they'd know she didn't belong here.
"If you won't talk, then have a bite of my wife's meal."
