Jacquelyn held the letter so close to her chest; she didn't want her tears ruining the parchment, but she wanted to be transported back in time. She wished to be there that day, the day her mother wrote this letter.
She wanted to sit beside her and watch the fireplace with her, listening to the soft crackling of wood. Jacquelyn wanted to breathe the same air as her mother just for a minute. If only she had known better that day she saw her mother in hell, she would have hugged her so closely and told her that she missed her too and wished she was still alive and beside her to see the man that loves her the most.
Jacquelyn buried her face on Kael's chest and sobbed softly. It was a bittersweet feeling to know her mother loved her, didn't deem her a curse like the entire kingdom, and to know she was never going to be there forever because she'd given her life to bring Jacquelyn into the world.
