Rune stayed quiet; he couldn't argue or refute Kael's words. It was true that he only wanted someone to blame; he needed a place to pour his hate and frustration. They had bled for humans, their family separated and torn apart. He had to sell his soul to Avyssa in order to survive, and even when he found out that Kael had lost his memory and was almost killed by humans, Rune didn't care.
And it was because he wanted to blame Kael for never coming to look for them. It was this hate that had kept him going all these years, and now that Iva, whom he had protected for years, hated him, Rune felt hurt. It was as though his heart was being stabbed with a blunt knife, and all he could do was watch.
What did he want? Rune just wanted his family to be together once again. He wanted to protect his sister and to be loved by his brother. That was what he actually wanted.
