Lucia stepped down from the podium, her eyes scanning everyone gathered. Their faces were still blank and filled with sadness; she'd hoped her words would bring solace, but it was only wishful thinking. Comforting words never really comfort; one could only hope to do something to ease the pain of the bereaved, at least. The woman sighed, and she walked towards the only duo that had been able to speak since the incident.
"Kael, Lyn," Lucia bowed, "we can now properly bury him and maybe scatter his ashes so he can find peace."
Iva raised her face when she heard this. "Scatter his ashes? Do you hear yourself?" She stood up, her legs trembling as she tried to move closer to Lucia.
"Um...I don't mean—" Lucia started, trying to defend herself. "I meant no harm,"
Iva scoffed; it was a dry laugh that made her chest rumble with undisturbed tears in her throat. "You meant no harm? But you just suggested we burn his body! Do you even hear yourself?"
