Jacquelyn stared at Ballister. This time, she wasn't sure about everything anymore. She had clearly seen him tend to the white rabbit earlier, and he spoke so softly, but now the rabbit was found dead. Was it a coincidence? Or was it not the same as the one Ballister was holding earlier? A lot of questions troubled Jacquelyn's mind as they walked down the rocky mountains away from Morville Castle.
As Layla tried to playfully jump over one of the rocks, her shoe got stuck on the hem of her dress, causing her to lose her balance. But she didn't fall to the ground because Ballister quickly caught her.
"Are you okay?" Ballister asked, his voice laced with so much worry. He didn't mind that his hand was pressed to the rock as he held Layla steady.
