Back at Morville, Layla slept peacefully on Iva's lap, while Iva hummed a soft melody, stroking the girl's hair. A soft rustling sound from one of the rooms caught Iva's attention; she turned around but didn't see anyone.
Knowing it was just the two of them in the house, Iva ignored the sound, writing it off as the wind. She closed her eyes again, enjoying the soft silence and warm morning sun with her head resting back on the couch.
Sensing a hovering shadow, Iva opened her eyes, but she was a second too late because the person behind her pinned her down, grabbing her neck tightly.
"Good to see you too, Iva." Julia smiled, the corners of her eyes crinkling brightly. "You don't look so happy to see me," the woman continued, using her fingers to pin Iva down.
