Bright blue sky and fluffy white clouds. The soft chirping of birds and the cool morning breeze. All of these were pleasant to the senses, enough to lull one back to sleep, but they didn't for the Vampire King's bride.
"Was it his spirit animal?" Jacquelyn tapped her finger on her lips. She couldn't erase from her mind what she had felt in Kael's trousers the previous night. She was curious, and her throat was drying up in anticipation to know what exactly that was. After Kael had carried her to their room, he tucked her in bed and asked her to sleep.
Jacquelyn obeyed, but her mind didn't. Even when she finally did fall asleep, she saw it in her dream. The thing hiding in Kael's trousers, she even touched it, and she felt it move. It was a hamster, and it chased her all through the night.
