Kael moved his hand back after shifting the next attacker's jaw. The sound of breaking bones gave him peace and reduced his annoyance. This was the seventh human to attack him. When he started beating up the men, others had suddenly joined in, trying to help their friends. Kael didn't see any reason to stop people who wanted to join in the fun; he just kept smiling while giving them the beating of their lives, with Jacquelyn still standing beside him.
It would've been easy for Kael to snap his fingers and deal with these humans, but it wasn't necessary. He knew most of them were drunk, and he could almost imagine their faces the next day when they woke up with missing teeth and twisted bones. All because of this girl. He turned his annoyed gaze to see the girl staggering, her eyes half-closed. Before she could fall, Kael reached for her hand and dragged her back to his body.
