Qiao En was startled.
Zhou Jin'an's slender fingers seemed to want to clutch her small hand.
"Are you awake?"
Qiao En's eyes widened as she stared at Zhou Jin'an.
But his eyelids remained heavily closed, showing no sign of opening.
Just then, Detective Wu's message arrived.
"Let's go."
He had sent just one word.
Qiao En dared not linger; she pulled back her hand and hurried toward the door. Halfway there, she turned back and hugged Zhou Jin'an again.
"Wake up soon, I'm waiting for you."
She said firmly and assuredly into his ear.
Qiao En slipped out of the hospital room and darted into the fire escape.
She had just left when Cheng Lu returned.
He cautiously pushed open the door to Zhou Jin'an's hospital room and entered.
The room was still the same as when he had left.
However, he quickly noticed something unusual.
Zhou Jin'an's fingers were slightly trembling.
"Doctor—"
Cheng Lu was alarmed and hurried to call someone.
